What RDP app are you using? I run RDP through both my z10 and playbook everyday without issue.

Thanks for this thread OP. I am considering a Surface tablet to replace my Samsung tablet as I need something with more "laptop like features" to compliment my Z10.

I completely agree, I really enjoy my Surface 2! It is very smooth and quick. Love live tiles.

Has anyone been able to connect any phone to it by means of bluetooth.
I tried using Q10 HTC 1 and iPhone none who connect.
They would all be recognized but connect for like a split second then nothing.
But even this may not keep me from purchasing one.

I am always connected to it, if you want to send files to the surface you have to go to the bluetooth settings and select 'receive' before you send a file from your phone.

    Otherwise it won't work.

Yes! I did and it worked well. I had my Z10 and my Surface. I traded my Z10 for a Lumia 928 and since that runs Windows Phone, the experience is better. However, for my upgrade, I am considering a Z30.

I was thinking about picking up a surface to replace my galaxy note 10.1. I love Android on a tablet but Surface is cool because it's almost a real replacement for a laptop

Any one care to let me know the size and weight of both the surface pro and surface 2? Is it too heavy or too clunky?

I agree. RT is the only mobile OS that can be used nearly to the extent of a full OS...at least that's how I feel

I can't agree more. I always think people are silly getting an iPad at premium price (actually overpriced) for nothing. Recently, I bought an ASUS Transformer Book (A 10.1" full Windows 8.1 tablet, 32 GB storage with a detachable keyboard dock), which costs me $379. It can run all PC programs with pre-loaded MS Office 2013, equipped with HDMI out, USB 3.0 and MicroSD Card slot. Can an overpriced (i.e. $600) IPad Air 32GB run PC programs? Does an IPad have USB port that can hook up with my Z10 for leak OS installation? Does an iPad have HDMI out and extra storage? Those iPads or Android tablets are nothing even close to a PC. Absolutely, Microsoft Surface or any Windows tablets are the best alternatives to desktops or laptops today.

Hi there, it's not clunky at all if you look at the specs it's very comparable to the ipads not the ipad air. Its a really well made tablet and it works flawlessly with my blackberry!

In fairness the surface rt / surface 2 is not a very stable OS. Apps crash on me a LOT including IE. The form factor is a bit more clunky sometimes. That being said the physical form factor is amazing and the reason I've used this tablet more than any other tablrt I've owned. The size, kickstand, and touuch cover is an amazing combo.

I've honestly never had any stability problems even before I updated to 8.1. But yes, I love the design and form factor. It's beautiful.

I'm looking at new ones with the new ATOM chips and 8" screen size. Seems bbry's loss is MS's gain.

Issue there is the touch cover keyboard might be too small to type on. Obviously we won't know till we try one.

No, you can't install Link since that is an x86/desktop application which RT doesn't run. It's a mobile/tablet OS

Nope. RT is made for arm chips and the app needs to be remade by BlackBerry. Will work with pro

Yes. Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 Pro are both full OSs that run x86 programs. Windows 8.1 RT is a mobile OS technically in a different class that competes with iOS and Android.

Even though it looks and functions the same. This confusion has caused a lot of backlash on the device. Even though I understand the distinctions I also understand the backlash. Its a pity because it's a great overall device.

I've seen tablet makers advertise win 8Rt or 8.1 as it is now, win 8 and win 8pro. From what I've read plain win 8 will run most software but not all. Where as RT will run none.
