The blackberry name makes people think that they should stay away from it... thank to 3 year of bashing. I think their non-phone product could get more traction by not being associated to Blackberry. Blackberry channel is on of them.

LOL.. sorry.. that's taken. By a Chinese company.

And yet, some people says BlackBerry doesn't put their name out there enough like Samsung.

I don't think I can buy anything else other than BlackBerry. So, if it changes its branding,it might lose the connection it has with core users. Yes, BlackBerry 's reputation has suffered these past years, but it is still synonymous with security and reliability. Image improvement and education is required at the carrier levels, with some strategic advertising.

Very interesting choice of words. It is true. Ask yourself why.

I got a BlackBerry baseball cap today. It's very nice with the trademark and logo tastefully understated. I'll wear it with great pride.

Which is why BlackBerry have kept the public connection of their ownership of QNX to a minimum, even they know that right now in the tech industry their name is toxic.

I think that RIM to BlackBerry was enough, public opinion can be changed, changing your name should be the last thing you do and I think with the money BlackBerry has it would be better put to use in altering public perception than just bringing a new name...

    "What's QNX?"

    "Oh, it's BlackBerry's new name"

    "Lol they're still around?"

You would still need to alter public perception, you're just making the link between the name with negative links further down.

And I think it is happening, once people understand that QNX is by BlackBerry and hear amazing articles like Ford using them.. that adds positive feelings to The BlackBerry name, if anything they shoild make sure people know QNX is BlackBerry, (which the first step they've made by adding the BlackBerry symbol to the front of QNX.

It's happening in other ways to like the BT Tower event I think BlackBerry is going for more precise attack than broad which is good, as long as there's a big multiplier effect.

If they bring new services or product would recommends to not include blackberry in the main name. More like "service name, by blackberry" like Beats by dr Dre. So you can talk about the product without systematically remembering all thoae bad memories.

For them its like overcoming a phobia

I actually think this is a great idea. My thinking is that they should follow what Microsoft does with Bing. Granted, I've never seen people pick on anyone for using Bing, but the one guy I know who use to have a Z10 got picked on a lot for it, so the name Bing isn't as toxic as BlackBerry, but the logic still applies.

See, what Microsoft does with Bing is that they get a bunch of big companies to use it on the backend, so people are using it without even realizing it. Yahoo uses Bing, Facebook uses Bing, even Apple uses Bing with Siri. This has got Bing up to a 20% market share in search in the US last time I checked.

I really like the name BlackBerry but it does have negative connotations surrounding it..

what if the next phone was branded QNX? That could definitely work in my opinion.

apps! period! without major developers getting on board, BB is not going to get better. shame to have a kick *** product that does not get the nod from the app worlds out there! that is the real poison here! Pandora is one, for instance. and the list goes on. until BlackBerry becomes a favored platform it will be avoided in droves!

The thing everyone forgets about people and technology....its fickle. All it takes these days is one fail.
Today they love you, tomorrow they hate you and vice versa.
Anyone remember their Nokia 3310 or Samsung D500/600, Samsung disappeared for a while after those. Just a thought
