I know that the company is focused on recovering to be profitable again. But I think it would be a good idea for BlackBerry to jump on that ship while it's hot.
    Why?
Because blackberry is the best when it comes to communication.
They should make smartwatch compatible for BlackBerry and android.
It should be blackberry stylish, waterproof and give you easy overview of your messages.
People have different opinions when it comes to smartwatches but I think they will sell well.
Chen talked about making one big blockbuster movie and you are back in the game.
    This could be one...
What do you think about it?

BlackBerry should get their phone business in order first.

Phone business sorted first, but correctly and fast. Only then a watch done right for us BB users.

I can't see it happening anytime soon, I honestly believe that smart-watches in general are just not ready. Yet. People expect too much and are getting too little, until a smart-watch has the same or similar functionality as a smart-phone, rather than just being a useless bauble until it's connected to another device and even then with limited functionality, most people aren't going to be interested. The only somewhat successful watch out there is the Pebble, the rest, including Samsung's Gear, really aren't selling that well at all, I don't think BB can afford to run the risk of engaging in this market just yet unless they launch something that's unique and that will blow everyone's socks off.

No. Smartwatches haven't even proved themselves to be a hot trend yet outside of the forum posting world. There's no sense in getting on board what may just be the next netbook style passing fad.

Even though I understand what people are saying, to let them focus of phones but I do understand where you are coming from. From a business point of view a watch and tablet can be very affective for all types of business from construction to office

It's the natural progression. If they did it right, it would be a good companion to a Berry handset.

However, along with everyone else's opinion- No. There's a long way to go in general, and BBRY cannot afford to be dostracted from what they are doing by something that (in fairness) probably isn't the next mainstream big thing.

Incidentally - the article that Zathis has linked to is the InPulse SmartWatch. That became Pebble when the company moved to Silicon Valley, and is still probably the besy way to go if you're carrying BB10 and fancy a smartwatch.

BlackBerry doesn't need to commit resources to a device in an unproven market. Even the top devices in the smart watch market are not doing much business... Until they become slimmer, more attractive, and have sufficient battery life, let's say 5-10 years, they will not be a sound investment.
