Apple is going to get a good chunk of them anyway. Just look a the bailout messages on this forum. I'd say about 1/3 are going to buy an iPhone and I believe there are a ton that aren't willing to come to a generally anti-Apple venue and announce it. For the more normal smartphone customers, I'd say that Apple can count on eventually getting half of them. So, why spend billions to buy Blackberry when you can eventually have half of their customers for free?

BlackBerry was never for sale, the whole thing is a gutting of shareholders and wall street. I can guarantee you that Canada was never going to let the company go and for that reason alone there was and will be no other offers. So many companies would buy what BlackBerry has if they could. BlackBerry is the western government security and military software platform. Not for sale. Look for the Canadian government to fund any excess cash that may be necessary.

True, though the Moto X is running at 100K units a week, which would be just 5 million units a year. Even with their other devices I believe they're selling fewer units annually than Samsung does quarterly.
