Has anyone used this? Doesn't have to be in an emergency, but maybe just played with it to test?

I'd like to hear some stories about it. I just looked in my account and want to learn more.

You can use it to locate or remotely wipe your phone. It used to do settings and PIM data backup pre-BB10, but I hear that that's going to be coming back.

A co-worker lost her 9900 turned out she left it on the train, for most of the day we watched as it went back and forth what we later learned was the metro rail system.
When we went to the location it was infact the storage yard for trains. seeing all the cars we both looked at each other is disbelief. Phone was wiped and she got a new one.

Used it when I changed devices from a 9300 to a 9810 to restore contacts, sms etc. This worked well for me on BBOS, but I understand that the functionality of BB Protect isn't the same for BB10 devices.

You can use it just to find your phone in your house if needed - even if you've left it on silent, you can play a loud siren-like noise that'll come through clear as day, like a homing signal. For fun, I've tracked mine to within 4m on the protect website (it's actually shown my house on the map, so that's pretty decent).
    Definatley worth turning on, IMHO.
Not too happy to say this, but I used Find my iPhone to track down my Mother In Law's phone two days ago. She thought it was long gone, we found it in her car "Last known location" on the map before the battery quit.

Great tool if your device is list or stolen. However, I always suggest a password on your BlackBerry.

Do I have to have the location service turned on all the time or can you sign into the website and turn it on from there to find your phone?

Definitely recommend keeping it on and also have password (that should be a no brainer)
