Hey I have recently been in the market for a blackberry
I live in Canada, and would be able to switch to any mobile service be it Fido, Rogers, Bell or Telus
    Here is my predicament:
Essentially I just want the ability to use BBM (blackberry messenger).
I would like to know the cheapest route available to do so.
When going directly through rogers, the minimum plan is $40/month.
I would like to pay in the range of $25.

I know the cheapest data plan available is 10$ and cheapest voice is about 15$, but I do not know if I can use those phones for the blackberry.

Also, would I be able to get a plan on another phone and merely use the simcard for the blackberry. Would this method allow me to BBM.

    Please fill me in,
    Thanks so much, Lorenzo

In general, any application who's name starts with "BlackBerry" absolutely requires a BlackBerry data plan to work. BlackBerry Messenger, for example, will not work with a generic data plan, because the message flow needs to go through the RIM NOC, which only happens with the BlackBerry data plan.
