Like the saying goes, (patent) possession is nine tenths of the law.

He who holds the patent wins! (Except for Apple can too. (And also Samsung.))

They would give you a Passport, if you weren't three and a half years too late.

That patent was filed years ago. The obvious give away is the age of the BlackBerry in the illustration. That ain't no Classic! Lol

Would be cool if used in a two factor authentication method. Can we all say "honestly officer I entered the correct password but I can't unlock my phone...you broke my watch!". LOL

    Awwww

Darn I really thought I had something going there for me. I hope I get something for calling it out.

Is it a crime to just want a BlackBerry Passport for free? (it is if you steal it!)

NFC is very short distance..which is why there it Tap N Pay and not Point N Pay. That might limit its utility in the unlocking scenarios. Encrypted bluetooth may be a better solution in those instances.

That's pretty normal, been trying mightily to get the backlog down to three years.

Seriously? Trying to take credit for a rather obvious and eventual feature? If you don't think that a lot of people said, "I would like..." or "it would be cool...". It's an entirely different thing to actually do it. In this case, you are far, far behind the common public.

Otherwise, Fortune 500 companies are using "my" ideas all the time! Where is my free product!

Yes, and I've seen some things people have tried to patent, that's a lot of time wasted.. so many get through that are also ridiculous... Google search for a laugh...

Doesn't a certain brand of Android do this? (I think it's the Nexus line but I can't remember)
