Here's a question maybe someone knows, I haven't been able to get a straight answer from anyone.

I'm soon to be the proud owner of a Curve 8320 on Orange UK, getting paid for by my work (although the contract's in my name). This contract will never be used (don't ask...)

If I took out an Orange SIM Only (say, Dolphin 10), could I...

    • De-tag (or whatever it is) the Curve from the existing contract
    • Tag the Curve to my new SIM only plan
    • Add the (currently 2.50) BlackBerry bundle to my SIM only and use it like that - or would I need to pay the full 7.50 for it...?

    Any help muchly appreciated

    Bill

Hi Bill, welcome to the crack!

As far as I know, any orange sim should work with the Curve, the phone is linked to the network, not the contract. What I'm not so sure about is adding the Talk with BB add on to those sim only deals. Why not give Orange a call and ask?

Ah, I wish it were that simple!

I called Orange about 5 times to confirm, and got different answers:

"no, can't be done at all"
"no, you can't have the bb addon but can buy a data bundle instead for pop/imap only"
    "yes, it'll work fine"
"yes, so long as the bb addon is active on the original contract AND the sim only..."

looks like I might just have to try it for myself :P

Welcome to the surreal world of Orange support!

Your best bet would be to go to an Orange shop, as they have access to the best csr's.

Welcome to CB Bill & good luck! There must be a Blackberry Tariff for sim only deals.

When I worked at Orange, you couldn't add the blackberry service to a SIM Only account...maybe that's changed now.

How much are you paying for the blackberry service? And is it unlimited?
