It's been talked about here a little...

Way back in 2013 someone suggested it https://forums.crackberry.com/genera...-story-855890/

But back in Aug started to see some info on this "movie" https://forums.crackberry.com/showth...1#post13651896 which was just after filming had wrapped. Actually impressive some of the cast, but I think this was going to be a very limited run type film that you wouldn't see at the local megaplex.

Guess the reviews are in now from the premier in Germany...

And though Johnson’s movie suggests other factors may have contributed to its demise, it’s hard to ignore that the company got out-innovated in the end. The film, at least, feels fresh, making geek history more entertaining than it has any right to be.

What keeps you watching is the enjoyable character work of the two leads. Howerton makes Jim laser-focused, shrewd and loyal only to himself, as quick and precise in his body language as he is with his blunt words. The movie’s heart comes from Baruchel, who finds a muted sadness in Mike’s increasing pragmatism and decisiveness. However, he shows regret as he’s forced to acknowledge that the cohorts with whom he started his adventures in tech are not exactly an asset.

There is more than a small thrill to be had in watching BlackBerry and anticipating just how the rest of the world might receive the film after its Berlinale world premiere. At home, the movie isn’t so much a game-changer as it is a game-affirmer: confirmation that Johnson delivered on his many promises and salvos. Like the glory days inside RIM, BlackBerry proves that the misfits are now in charge of the machine. May it never crash.

Who knew a Canadian biopic of an infamous smartphone could be this entertaining, even poignant and moving? I am here to tell you today’s world premiere Berlin Film Festival competition entry BlackBerry is all that and more.

Judging by the few reviews linked above the film doesn't seem to suck.

Only one of the reviews had even a reservation, that the plot slowed down a bit when presenting a corporate strategy thing.

I was thinking it could only be a dull fictionalised documentary, like the Avro Arrow one with Dan Ackroyd, boringly ticking off points essential to the legend. That this film might more than that as seems by these reviews is a happy surprise. Plus it's filmed in Waterloo. Gotta see it.

From reading these and other reviews, it does sound like an entertaining story.... sadly most of what make it entertaining are the same reasons the company failed to keep up in smartphones.

None of BlackBerry’s three major characters have the halo of genius: Mike shows some astounding insights but is limited by perfectionism, Jim has the morals of a shark and seems to care more about hockey and berating people than creating a great company, while Doug largely functions as RIM’s morale booster and movie-night coordinator....

...By emphasizing the people in its tech tale, and the comedic possibilities in their mismatch, rather than the gee-whiz factor, Johnson frees BlackBerry from the need to convince its audience how important the invention at its center was. The film wins big by going small.
Never a good thing when the situation at the top of a company is "comedic".
