Yeah, I honestly don't know if I should get it. It's only $29.99 here at The Source, which is ridiculously cheaper than the original price. I've heard mixed reviews from the sound quality was alright to "it was amazing" and five stars.

At that price I wouldn't hesitate for a second. I'd grab one for sure.
That's what I did. Got the same deal at The Source and it works well. Volume is surprisingly loud, and it also doubles as a Music Gateway. I've used it as a BT speakerphone and speaker while working in the kitchen and also taken it for a few walks. Don't expect deep bass and enjoy its versatility.

I got one as well at the Source. At 29 bux it's a absolute steal. Portable with good volume and sound.

I would say the PlayBook is slightly more pleasing overall. But the Mini Speakers get much louder. I find the mini to have a more crunchy sound than the PlayBook which is more mellow. The PlayBook has better stereo imaging, which is not surprising as the speakers are further apart. The mini has better highs.

Given the option to choose only one, I would take the mini. For the following reasons: Volume, battery life, versatility (you can use it as BT receiver and it has media controls on it) and smaller size.

Given any choice of any BlackBerry product to be a music player, I'd take my Z30 which sounds better than both the mini and the PB.
    I agree with this assessment

It's nonexistent. Those are small speakers in a tiny enclosure. It's not physically possible to get deep tones from that.
I was surprised at how much base tone is on the minis. Everything about them is better than PlayBook speakers. Have you tried adjusting settings or neutron player?

I just got mine. It was sold out everywhere, but one store had one left. It was an already opened box though so someone returned it (really sketchy). I find the clip feature really hard. I'm scared I'll snap it, but I can't get it to fit a thin strap from my duffle bag easily at all. The ridges of the clip don't seem to open up fully even when I opened 0.5mm.

I haven't tried the beats pill, but for the BlackBerry mini speaker, it's basically like the speakers on the Q5/Q10 but louder in my opinion.
