The barcode is used to scan from a computer or another BB to add somebody rather than typing in their pin

No, I'm running BBM 4.7, as required by OS 5.0.0.230.
So nobody else has the check for upgrade?
It might be something they started to put in and not finish. The menu says check for upGRADE, but when you click it it says checking for upDATE. Then 1/2 second later it says it can't check for an update and try again later.

Hahahaha.... The barcode is this cool feature on bbm5.0 that instead of putting the pin of a new contact your camera snaps a pic and that's it. Much faster. And you can also put your own pic and your friends can see it as well. Oh! But the coolest is you can set a proximity sensor so if a friend come within your determined area In miles radius you will be alerted . Very cool stuff. Can't wait
