Wasn't sure where to post this as this is generic to BB as a whole.

    Thoughts?

How Dutch Police Decrypted BlackBerry PGP Messages For Criminal Investigation

Haha! I read the entire piece with my heart in my mouth since I spent money on BBM Protected hours ago. However - this doesnt, at least for now, apply to my case since BBM Protected keys are stored only on the device and not on BB servers.

But this is a shame, nonetheless. Not the grabbing the criminals part - but that the keys can be grabbed by law enforcement so easily.

Nope. This was a PGP modified BlackBerry. The PGP messages were hacked straight from a seized server. Not actual BlackBerry messages.

Sure. As the messages never went through any BlackBerry infrastructure.

Has nothing to do with BlackBerry security or BBM.

Mods should edit the thread title as it's misleading.

The devices are not hacked and they used pgp for emails that where encrypted stored on a server. They cracked the key on the server and has nothing to do with BlackBerry.

The only thing BlackBerry shows up because BlackBerry devices are secure to use and not hackable for dutch,UK and US. This way the emails are safe from goverment, police when they get caught.

There is still a several cases in the Netherland about some Blackberry devices that where not hackable here and where send to uk,us.!, because it was about drug traffic. So please don't talk about blackberry messenger.

It's always easier to repost old news that it is to find something new to write about.
