This was originally posted as another thread but i thought about sharing it here. Check out how BlackBerry is going about advertising BlackBerry Balance. Such a cool way of showing how a BlackBerry can be both a entertaining and business-like device.

So this is where all their advertising money is going. Good to see how useless BlackBerry's marketing team is.

This concept might actually work with celebrities on billboards. But with regular joes wearing costumes in the street? Not so much.

I think it is interesting but it can be done in more classy fashion as in TV commercial.

These guys definitely can turn heads and fun enough to be approachable.

You guys ever heard of direct marketing before?

Certainly better than the Samsung Superbowl commercial with talking heads.

Dude I laughed so hard I almost cried. Even though it looks silly it does get people's attention. This sure is a attention getter.

It may get people's attention but this looks like a joke. Anyone who markets like this doesn't want to be taken seriously. I'm laughing at blackberry for this not with

Unfortunately, Washington DC gave up on Blackberry more than a year ago. Apple was more than happy to fill the void that RIM left when they couldn't producing a technologically advanced smartphone.

I don't know about that I'm in DC a few times a week for work and nightlife, and even with an Apple store in the heart of DC Georgetown and across the bridge I still see a slew of BB's on the streets offices and cafes.

I don't think that's how you rebuild a global brand plus average people don't care too much about balance. It's a corporate feature.

Last thing BlackBerry needs is people and media and making fun of them.
There's got to be a better way to handle this..

There is no one way to market. You need multiple and this is one way. Don't they already have kiosks and the black BlackBerry van too when it comes to direct marketing? So why not include this?

Since they are trying to showcase a unique feature, how would you market Balance on the streets? A guy in a suit wearing a rubber ducky tube ring? A guy in his speedos carrying a briefcase? That doesn't pack a punch as much as what these guys are dressed up as. The conservative way probably would have busy workers not giving you the time of day.

Again, one of many ways you can market and I give credit for them trying this rather than feeling insecure about being made fun of. It got my attention, lightened up my day from the drudgery of work, and if those guys were good at convincing me - I would advise my CIO to take a look at possibly adopting BES10 and start adding BB10 devices as part of a MDM strategy. If he was a good CIO, he would say to me that they are already piloting or doing a proof-of-concept.
