    T-Mobile BlackBerry 9700 Glimpsed in the Wild! | CrackBerry.com

The BlackBerry gods have shined down on me today. The Driftwood, the mythical device that I started to wane in my belief in has visual evidence with T-Mobile 3G. The 8900 I own is going away for this.

it looks like that to on the storm 2 pics that were posted. i guess maybe there logic is you pick up a phone to call and hang it up to end, if that makes any sense, i sorta get it.

meh, these are unimportant specifics. no one will care about it being right side up if buttons fall off. that will really **** people off. does this sighting mean that this phone is commin soon?

Although I would love to wait to upgrade for this phone (I'm not under contract as of now) I think it will be too pricey for my budget. Even with a 2 year contract :/ I will be a first time BB user so I guess I'll havta start small. Doesn't stop me from wanting it though!

They are the same device just carrier specific minor differences - in this case, uma on driftwood. Think 8300-8310-8320 differences.
The real question I have is that going on this assumption, RIM will probably remove something from the driftwood that the onyx has (going on their track record here). What will that something be? Hopefully not 3G...

I would guess not. Hopefully by the start of the Christmas shopping season.Supposedly they're still having issues with 3G working consistanly with UMA.

To me it looks like a pretty sweet device but the actual looks are very similar to the 8900.....My contract is up in October and I dont think this device is enough to sway me another 2 years with tmobile! Im getting the storm 2! Plus tmo 3G hasnt reached in Albuquerque yet! How lame is that?!?

Dont worry, 3G wont be removed as one can see in the one and only existing pic of the mythical beast, it says "3G, WIFI".

If tmo does decided to remove 3G, then its good bye tmobile, forever and ever!!

No. This is the 9700, which is T-Mo's version of the Onyx. This is the Driftwood.

^ or maybe its made like that now as face down signifies hang up and the other way signifies making an outgoing call of some sort.
