T-mobile has a Blackberry Enabler feature that allows messaging and wifi usage without a data plan. If updating to a 4.5 OS on another carrier, will the feature still work? I'm ready to pull the trigger on the upgrade, but not if the enabler will no longer work. Anybody got the answer to this one?
I put an answer on your thread, but I'm not sure if it is what you want. The first part is is that it doesn't matter where you got the OS, it will be the same -- it won't be a rogers OS, it'll be an 8320 OS. Once you install it, it won't say rogers anywhere. That said, I don't know if enabler will work. Some apps do not work with upgrades. But really, if you don't have a data plan, why upgrade. The only thing you'll get from a upgrade that will be of use to you is the video recorder. And that's really not enough to do an upgrade for is it. I'd stay where you are if I were you.

With a wireless network at home and at work an upgrade will get some good use. I would like that video capturing feature as well. I've read the threads pertaining to upgrading on this site and others such as pinstack and nothing about the enabler feature. Maybe I'm the only T-mo customer without a data plan that would want to upgrade. I just gotta get to the bottom of this before I push the button.
Well, the instructions I gave you or the thread BMC put up for you will get you upgraded. I just can't tell you about enabler -- TMo might but might not because the OS is unsupported. BMC and I both understand WiFi because we use the heck out of it and UMA calling. BMC also wrote the WiFi guide. Good luck.

Good Point. If my wifi and MMS no longer work, I guess I could just down grade. I'm starting to sound/type like I'm an east coaster that should already be sleeping.
What? Your wifi and mms will work! Lol. Just don't know about enabler haha. If you want to downgrade, let me know, I'll tell ya how to do that too. Let me know how it turns out!

It's like it knows I have the enabler. I get a warning window that says 'after completing the loading operation, you must activate your device wirelessly to continue to send and receive messages and other Blackberry features. If you do not want to continue press cancel'. Ever seen this message.
I have to admit that with all of the available forums here, who really needs to call customer service.
I had the data plan and after looking over the budget paying an extra 40 bucks ( me and the wife) was just not working for me anymore. With a new baby and everyone wanting pictures I was reluctant to remove the data package for fear of not being able to send mms messages, but all hail the BLACKBERRY FEATURE ENABLER!!! lol
Just want to extend a heart felt thank you to everyone that helps on these forums. Gotta love the BB and CB family..
