Fair but the point is, Blackberry used to be #1 with 50% marketshare.

True... times change and BlackBerry could eventually take it back if they play it right.

android is comprised of dozens of manufacturers and they don't share the same pool of cash..... how can we compare this to Apple and BlackBerry

They belong to the same ecosystem and Google services. A customer with an Android phone is more likely to choose another Android phone NOT BB. Samsung can rise and fall just like HTC was the Android king a few years ago, Android will still be there.

In this forum, profit and marketshare are only relevant as to prospects of BB making a resurgence. In terms of Android it doesn't matter if Samsung goes down a few percent and HTC/LG/Moto go up a few percent as long as Android keeps gaining because those handsets come from people who upgrade from feature phones or from subscribers to other ecosystems BB/Apple/Windows.

You know this but are being obtuse for some reason.

The media loves negative news, they thrive on it whether it be plane disasters or impending war! Nice stories like this sell. More BlackBerry doom and gloom as usual. Nothing changes here does it

In and of itself, no it's not. However many companies do make decisions based on Android's success as a platform. Which ultimately equates to the same thing for competitors to Android. Even Apple doesn't take the view of Android not being a company to heart, as they recognize it to be a real threat. Otherwise we wouldn't see the plethora of legal battles in the industry.

I know, quoting my own reply is bad form, but the Tapatalk app for Windows Tablets needs a bit of work (and thus editing posts leaves something to be desired)... that being said...

I just wanted to follow up that even Microsoft is taking the Android approach seriously, and looks like they'll be licensing it out for free as well. Shinola's about to get interesting.

I am a total BlackBerry fanboys but I would never stick my head in the sand either. BlackBerry is loosing market share everywhere and no new phones anytime soon is not helping. The smaller the platform gets the less support it will get.

Q20 is to bring the track pad people not to get new customers. If anything its the Z3 that can stop the bleeding.
