I'm with Sasktel, owned by Bell, and they don't offer the unlimited data package. I get 5 for $25 a month. I OTA'd a few themes this month, I'm a bit concerned to see my bill. To the OP, are you able to change your data plan after youve signed up?
And this thread is why I am glad I had to move to a place without GSM and had to go CDMA. Rogers data plans/customer service in general is horrid. The people you talk to in the store is nice, but other than that, its a total wash...

Sasktel may have it though...the Unlimited $30 is not on Bell's website, but can be added at Bell World and by phone customer service. I would think that if Sasktel is Bell owned, they would have it as well...
I upgraded to the Curve a few weeks ago and asked the Sasktel salesperson about the unlimited plan, and he said that it wasn't an option. I was very disappointed, to say the least. On the plus side, my plan price stayed the same and I went from 4 to 5! Let the party begin!
The rep (and I) may have been wrong. The Sasktel website is now showing a Blackberry unlimited data plan for $75 a month. Holy cow, that seems expensive. (That's right, I said Holy Cow.)
That does seem a little off...Bell site still does not even SHOW the Unlimited $30 - it's a promotion. Try calling in, see if they have it and it's just not on the site. If I hadn't read it here the day before it launched, I never would have known about it, and neither would anyone else if they were just shopping on the Bell site.
I was poking around the Sasktel site too, and they have Unlimited Email $15. If you don't mind Opera, you can use the workaround, so that is an option too.
I just tried to call but they're closed now so I will try again tomorrow. If I can get unlimited for five dollars more than I'm paying now for 5MB, it will be worth navigating through their prompt service, lol! Thanks reeneebob and everyone!
No problem. Check out the Rogers board on here for the workaround information if you are interested. It worked for me on Bell for a month before I got the Unlimited, with no fees.
I will look into that. I haven't downloaded Opera because I've been trying to stay away from going over my limit.
Um, I realize that this may be a stupid question, it's kind of on topic, but if I downloaded 3 themes OTA, does anyone have any idea how much data that might have used? Is there a way to find out? I kind of got theme happy but wow, that whole OTA thing is awesome!
The store reps are nice, but half the time they tell you BS that the actual customer service can't even do, they mis quoate ppl, they try to get you to sign up for new account and cancel your old one... I have better help from the data customer service, they aren't the best... but i hate the store reps...
FYI, can't remember where I read it, the average Rogers CRACKBERRY USERuses 30-35 mb a month... the CRACKBERRY ABUSER will use more haha... $50 for 500 mb aint bad either...
in regards to Bell's unlimited BB data plan, they do not allow tethering, Rogers encourages it, hence why they have that flex plan thingy..
I used to use maybe 8 mb a month, now that i have 300, I am sur emy usage will be up to about 30mb haha
Interesting question... I have Verizon's unlimited data, it is sold as a package under "data and email" but on the bill it clearly says, "Unlimited"... So a couple months ago, a friend who also has Verizon hit just over 5mb of data and he got a "nice" note from Verizon telling him that although the data was unlimited they do not allow excessive downloading of large files, such as movies, videos, and some other things...and at the bottom it stated that "Verizon maintains the right to cancel data services to customers they feel may be ABUSING the service"... What kind of crap is that? I also have the Broadband PC card for my laptop with Verizon and I guess I've never gotten close to the "limit" because I've never heard anything, but, I guess this means, "IT TRULY IS NOT UNLIMITED".
the cheapest option:
-60 bucks month
-150 minutes
- 400MB
- 75 text messages
- $6.95/month of "system access fee" <---illegal in US
- "unlimited evenings" = in the Rogers world evening starts at 9pm
theres a huge revolt in canada. theres a big petition, and big name medias like CNN are reporting the issue also. my local news is also covering the story
