    Hey friends!

BlackBerry community many of you are doubting that Blackberry wants keep OS10 alive.
Especially with the latest news to WhatsApp!

But BlackBerry just put that ob Twitter:

    BlackBerry community help for OS10!-img_20160303_112754_edit.png

It's not about WhatsApp itself, it's about losing support for OS10!
If Android had ever been an option for many of us in the BlackBerry community we already had jumped the ship and would not have stuck with them trough the transition!

Please reply to their tweet and let BlackBerry hear us loud and clear that we want OS10 to stay!
    Let them hear us!

If we further lose important / big apps - it's over...

    Thank you friends!
    Raise your voices!

It's already over. BB10 will at best get a couple of security updates, but other than that it is dead. Chen is smart enough to realize that the few remaining BB10 hold outs who haven't left yet isn't enough to make BB10 successful.

Stick a fork in it, it's done!

How should they put out more devices when:
1.) People see that it won't be supported anymore?
2.) Lack of good devices? - the freshest chipset / hardware for OS10 is already 2 years old.

Just to comment on the tweet. There are no alternatives and BlackBerry is not working on any.

They aren't planning any new devices....and even if they do release something in 2016, it will be using one of the existing Chipsets as cost for custom drivers was one of the reason mentioned as a problem for further BB10 development.

All the "community" can do to save BlackBerry hardware is to buy more hardware, and get others to do the same (bailing a row boat with a teaspoon at this point). Doing petitions or tweets asking for BlackBerry not to "give up" on BB10 is a waste of time. They would do it if they could afford it.

I think the biggest problem is, John Chen is a pure software guy - no vision how a device should be or where to head with one.
If they'd throw an another device on the market with the existing 1.5Ghz Dual core and this 8 mega pix cam. - that would be a total mess!
That's also the reason why the Leap and Classic sales are that low (in my opinion).
Classic is "too special" for the mainstream.
And the Leap won't catch any iPhone 6s or Samsung Galaxy S6 users - why should they switch?
There is not even a reason to buy the Leap if you own a Z10 or Z30 - and those devices are 3 and 2 years on the market.

Sometimes success takes some time to get a grip - in case of the Z10:
In 2013 the hardware was awesome and nothing to complain - but OS10 was too buggy, had to less function and far away from 10.3.2!
There even was still the lack of an Android runtime to fill the app gap.
So people were afraid to give it a try.

In 2016 it's the other way around - OS10 is great but there is a massive lack of hardware!
At least they should have released a Android & OS10 Priv!

Now would be to perfect time for a Z10 successor!
Classics, Passports will never catch attention for the mainstream - only for die-hards or keyboard lovers!

Marketing totally fails. BlackBerry had some cool commercials, like: Night Bikes (Bold 9900), Do what you love (BBM) and Be a start up (Leap).
But those have never seen a TV. only youtube - and there you have to search for it.
BBM could get great attention and would tell the world that BlackBerry is here to stay!
There are many users that are afraid of getting a BlackBerry because of there "future" - no one hears anything from them.
BlackBerry totally fails to get this!
Same mistakes they made with BBOS, which was said to have outdated hardware!

Most they can probably do is work with WhatsApp to make the Android version available on BlackBerry World or the Amazon Appstore (for BB10 users anyway).

John Chen has plenty of vision. He's stated his vision for BlackBerry's future, publicly, and on numerous occasions. People here on CB just don't appear to want to accept what he says.

John Chen's vision is one that doesn't include phones.

Chens vision is simple "it runs the google".

How can you try and sell something that you clearly don't know anything about lol!

Agreed. Which is why I continue to believe that the Priv is intended purely as a revenue-grabber, and has no long-term future. If Chen had any plan for hardware remaining as part of BBs future... you think he'd be more interested in learning more about Android, wouldn't you?

I agree that clearly Chen is committed to his path - but the path was not smart. Making another generic android device in a field of android devices is only going to accelerate the death of BlackBerry. If a company like Pantech can't even make money with selling Android.. what chance does BlackBerry have with a high price tag?
Successful tech companies need niches - and they already had one they just needed better marketing, plus they needed to get rid of a huge amount of dead weight that are not working hard and return to a core team that understands would BlackBerry should represent to the world.

BlackBerry is nothing without hardware.. just a long walk to obscurity. Even enterprise companies will cease to care about them on that path.

I think your being too generous frankly - he has no vision period. If you look at the history of Tech companies you will see that most of them that stop targeting consumer markets and tried to go all enterprise all eventually die.
Even if they are profitable in the short term they cease to be relevant in the long term and will eventually have no future.
That plus, instead of figuring out how to increase the sex appeal of his niche - he instead took a desperate path of just trying to adopt a generic android system which destroys any brand uniqueness or appeal for BlackBerry.
It's like Steve Jobs releasing a Windows PC or Phone.

BIS was the money generator, not phones. And carriers got sick of it and are probably glad they don't have to deal with BlackBerry in big volumes. They have kind of always been a software company.

Right but it was the phones that would have gotten them in the door and made people at companies care about hem.
Eventually Google and Apple will probably destroy whatever hold they have on enterprise if the surrender the consumer fields.

    OP, calm down...

BB10 is in a coma if not dead altogether. At this point all you can do is hope that BlackBerry can get into a position where it can once again try and revive it again. And if not in the next few years they will pull the plug.

It sucks but it's better then nothing.

It is surprising how much BIS did bring in to BlackBerry... Much more than BES did.

Switching the OS and an end of BIS, not sure what anyone in management or on the Board was thinking. So much depended on the Z10 and BB10, but they didn't seem to be all that concerned even after the Playback flopped. Don't think any of them taught failure was possible.

Hardware has always just been the gateway for BlackBerry to sell network services, be it BES or in the old days BIS. If you can get the CAL and access fees without the expense of hardware that hasn't sold enough to be profitable, why not explore it?

The long undiscussed failure of the BES mistake. BlackBerry has screwed that almost as bad as the hardware side
