Is it necessary to use a OEM Blackberry car charger or all they all the same?

They're all the same to me. I have an older verizon made car charger which was originally for a moto razr and it still charges my Bold.

I heard these work & I was looking in the "bargin bin" @ fido for 1.
I asked the guy/CS there & he asked his manager, his manager said to use RIM chargers because the Razr charger may show the charge icon but may not charge the phone properly.

    Any truth to this statement?

This happened to me. When I got my first BB, I kept using my Razr charger in the car only to find that it wasn't really charging even though it said it was. I found a BB charger at Target on sale for 7 bucks.

I would use a real BB one. I hear the connectors on the cheapie chinese ones may damage the phone side connector over time. I just picked one up on newegg for $9 shipped.
