I know friends that have tried it and it worked for them but I just upgraded at the time which was cheaper with my carrier. If you're not eligible for an upgrade anytime soon try it it works.

I'm just checking it out now at BlackBerry Trade Up Program but the page is really slow to load.
Let me rephrase, the page doesn't load at all once you make the selection from the first option for trading in a PDA/Smartphone....
Ok, now the site seems to be working properly.
