Well, I'd use it as my primary phone and would want BIS for full email, BBM, etc.

You will have to get a mobile plan with a carrier then.
As good as a phone it is the OS and hardware is dated.

That doesn't bigger me at all, so.long as I know they'll offer it for at least the next two years. That's my main question.

The 9900 will be functional on BIS for the next two years. There are a lot of them still out there in an enterprise environment. BlackBerry still has the infrastructure to support the 9900 and BIS.

Great. I'll take any additional questions to the appropriate BBOS/9900/BIS forum.

I definitely would not get a legacy BB device like a Bold 9900 as your first Blackberry phone. Start with a modern device, Passport, Classic or other. Those who love the older phones are experienced with them and know how to overcome the many quirks.
Yeah I got a Q10 after reading about the BIS stuff, still going to get one to play around with but not to use for anything, thinking of becoming a BlackBerry mobile collecter

Don't bother getting the 9900. Since you've been using an Android, you want apps and a lot of it. legacy OS has none of those sweet top apps.
