And RIM wonders why people in the US won't buy their stuff. Because they aren't available or you give exclusives you morons!!!! Sorry had to vent at the fact that the country that is threatening to ban Blackberry gets it before the US. Great job RIM!

Blame your Carriers, Verizon stores HAVE THEM IN STOCK! and they are not selling them.
a group chat I am in on BBM has 2 or 3 guys talking to many verizon stores trying to get these phones off their hands
India is part of a huge emerging market for RIM. Plus they have more millionaires than just about anywhere, and Blackberry's are very popular and getting more-so.
They'll probably sell 5x more phones in India than the US. Gotta look after your future.
Just got back from an exclusive Blackberry store. The 9900s are flying off the shelves.
Already there is a waiting for the phone.
My retailer messed up. He did not pick up the phones last night from the distributor and it was raining heavily today, so I will get my phone tomorrow.
and comment! I should have said smartphone use. AND I also must apologize for not doing further research, since I went off of what I recalled reading in this past year. and didn't do a google search first.
Hmm..I was interested in buying in India while I'm away from Canada, however it seems just as expensive.
Yea, its a straight up dollar conversion to rupees.
Might be a few dollars cheaper in Canada.
The only good thing is that you get a non- carrier branded phone here.

Stacks right up there with "The dog ate my homework"
But this is Delhi, the city comes to a standstill if it rains. Not like Bombay. There the people are so used to getting dirty that rain and mud is business as usual for them.
Ah. I only did a quick scan but I think Montenegro is the market to be in.
1,294,167- # of phones
672,180- Population
overly saturated already, you need to be there but with everyone having 2 devices already you are in a low margin battle field, the used market will be filled

Indian Government is playing chess with RIM over a ban....RIM is committed to the Indian market!
The reasons a ban will never occur are below
1)RIM has plans to build a manufacturing facility in India...as well as a distribution hub
2)RIM will reach an agreement with the Indian government to establish a server in the country, allowing the Government to monitor activity of BIS and BES...
3) the simple fact that that the 9900 was allowed into the indian market by the Indian government for release 4 days before RIM's Aug 15 deadline shows progress is being made!
4)Speculation however it may hold validity- The Indian government and Canadian government have a very healthy and deep friendship... ......almost bed buddies! Lol

Yes under today's conversion rate it is $700Cdn, even a tad more expensive than buying outright in RIM's backyard.

Sorry that the US is not the centre of our universe.
I don't have stats but I'm sure number of BB users in India will surpass the US before long.
