It appears VMWare and Red Bend software are working on BB Balance like functionality for Android. The idea of running an independent virtual machine on an Android phone is very unsettling to me. Let the bloating begin!

Not surprising, considering this is a sought after feature. The major obstacle will be overcoming the performance issues that comes with running a VM layer on top of the OS. QNX has this built right into the OS framework.

And RIM already has that corporate base balance is just part of the os its already packaged none of this go download this app or get IT to set it up crap.additionally as you said QNX is a beast at multitasking in background cyborg OS is not anywhere near that level.So performance and battery usage would be intresting

This Balance feature is huge unique feature add the security rep rim stands uptop here.Good luck to the immatation models.For consumers I would like balance to be able to become a guess account for when someone uses my phone.It should become guess account since it would'nt be linked to a bes no ??

To address the issue of separate calendars and e-mail accounts, RIM has proposed a different technical approach with BlackBerry Balance. The tool combines personal and professional messages, calendars and contacts on the mobile device, instead of cordoning them off and making a user toggle back and forth.

Why offer this to non BB devices? BBBalance is one of the allures of BB10. I don't even think it's possible to have a similar experience on another device as it's a baked in feature of the BB10 OS,

Also, Rim's solution allows for secure sharing between profiles. Say you take some pictures on the weekend using your personal profile and on Monday, back in the office, you'd like to share the picture with your work colleagues, there;s built in functionality to easily move the files over internally through the kernel. No need to email yourself, dropbox, or mount anything.
