Yeah, I talk to some people at AT&T also and a couple of people heard something about it, but most didn't have a clue.

Yes but the GPS is ONLY functional with Telenav
First, this is a major **** off to AT&T customers looking to get their hands on the BlackBerry 8820 mid-September, but whatís more important is why AT&T chose to do this. Apparently - and remember, this is coming from someone inside AT&T - the carrier didnít want to launch a device that would seem superior (or be competitive) to the iPhone. Sounds a little crazy, until you realize that a GPS/Wi-Fiíd device with push email and no funny-texting touch screen thatís subsidized in price sounds a bit more appealing than a $500 device that enterprise customers canít use.

Well, I guess if you change the OS, then you can get the GPS to work?!
Unless they disabled the GPS in a hardware way...

Is the 8820 going to be like the 8800 in terms of size, keyboard, etc? Also is this going to be a UMA phone and capbable of making phone calls using the wifi section or is AT&T going to disable that feature?

In France, with a Orange DSL box, your phone call will count as VoiP when using your house wifi...
not sure about when you will use any other wifi... and as for AT&T, I guess they don't have any DSL offer anyway :P

I was in an ATT store today asking when the 8820 & 8310 were going to be released. The ATT employee went to the store computer to inquire about my question. He read from the screen the 8820 would be released Sept 14-18. the 8310 would be offered in Red and Platinum releasing on Sept 24 or 25.
