Hey I use samsung galaxy note 2 as my primary device. I want to buy a blackberry as my secondary device
Is bb 7 a good platform for that? I want just want the qwerty keyboard and use bbm and mail on it....dont want a pricey one. A middle-lower end model would do

If all you want is mail, bbm and a keyboard pretty much any blackberry would do. 6/7/10, whichever fits your budget.

In terms of pure communication, I'd say that BBOS is unmatched even by BB10. You got your push/BIS, keyboard, battery life, convenience key, shortcuts, trackpad, dedicated call/menu buttons, etc.

I'd wait to find a used Z10 or Q10, even a Q5 when it comes out. BBOS phones need BIS to do most online activities, and you wouldn't have BIS on a data plan for an Android. BB10 phones are the first ones to operate on a standard smartphone data plan.

Yes, it is a wonderful device. Especially the Bold 9900/9930. You receive email before your desktop.

I would definitely recommend the Bold 9930. Great keyboard, great device. Don't know who is your carrier, but the new Q10 might be slashed to $99 with AT&T in a couple of months.

I'd say so. Heck I was using OS5 along with my SGS3 before I got the Z10/Nexus 4 combo.

Ditto. I just traded up from a 9900 to a Q10 and I have to say, the 9900 is by far a better communication device. You can navigate around a lot faster too (believe it or not) and it's just solid all around.

I'll be selling mine for a couple hundred bucks if you're interested :P

As a communication device, absolutely. It's extremely efficient and quick at that.
