More like the prices "THEY" should have sold the phones at all along.......ahhhhh a day late and a dollar short. Or in BlackBerry's case a hardware division short.
DTEK50... probable so.
The Passport... was a pretty good hardware set back two-half years ago. It was worth much more than $229 back then...
Do wonder what stock levels on all these EOL products looks like at this point.
Also these are from the US site. Canadian prices are more like always due to exchange rate.

We must be getting near the end--Classic was a while back, SE I think is now done and the original is nearing the end (IMHO). That leaves us with the Leap (yikes).
The flash sale has been going on for a week or so. I agree the Passport would never have been released at that price but wishful thinking
Well said, I think the 499 for the Priv is still insane.
I will bet the stock levels are getting pretty low at this point. But I bet Chen wishes he had a few more Passport SE's to sell.
On the US site
Yeah... even Verizon has finally dropped it down to $408US. And Amazon (sold and shipped by) is only $369US
On the most recent earnings call they had suggested that BlackBerry would be out of the hardware business by the end of the quarter which I believe is the end of February or early March. The wanted to start the new fiscal year off fresh with zero hardware commitments outside of their software for Android offerings. Also any licensing deal for the Mercury and other devices should be very high margin (85+%) to try and replace as much as possible the continued loss of SAF or service revenue.
I suspect that's why the launch of the Mercury/ other licensing deals and the flash sale for the remaining inventory is happening to try and flush out whatever might be kicking around. BlackBerry will still have some hardware revenue going forward from continued sales of devices still in the carrier channel or direct sales to government and corporations but it will probably be minor.
This is the year where the new BlackBerry will probably make software it's number one pivot and focus and everything else hardware related will just be icing on the cake.
