Depends if BlackBerry can get a high end competitive phone into the U.S. marketplace when my contract ends.

Right now I'm not too sure they will.

    CB10 via Verizon Z10.
I am curious of what you are defining as a world class phone taking the apps situation out of it, utilizing the run-time (and improving) plus hopefully building a BB-ecosystem down the road and hooking up with Google Play. I almost went for the z30 but the price was $200 and now is $100 plus contract with VZW. In my area US Cell has better coverage but doesn't offer the new BB phones. VZW has been spotty for other users here as well. I do not use apps much so probably shouldn't be asking this question of you. Still on my old full-touch Torch and love it (for now) but like the old kid I am, wanting to try something different is still there. Been on BB for so long and hard to change my old ways. Biggest problem for me and a lot of other people on the fence, is trying the new z devices. Been to h*** and high water and can't find any models let alone the carrier backing. We have to rely heavily on sites like this to see and understand the pros and cons before making the leap. Kicking the tires comes to mind. I know it will be a learning curve switching up to the new OS10 system.

So if you were going to tell me what my biggest issues would be if I dumped my Torch and went to a z30 (for my old eyes), I am very interested. Have tried an android and was just not comfortable with it some while back. Thanks.

I buy phones whenever I want them, regardless of contract dates. That said, I'm looking at replacing my Z10 with a Windows Phone (Lumia 1520) or moving my Moto X to that line.

I will get the successor to the Q10 when that comes out. No desire for the Z30 at all or its successor.

I would get a slider if it came out.

I have 3 more months to go on my contract for my Bold 9900 but I couldn't take it anymore, bought it off contract for 480 euro's. Had to pay damn Vodafone 20 euro to get a new sim card but hey, I am a happy BlackBerry man right now.

Part of the reason I got one off contract though is that I was worried the phone would be difficult to get in 3 months time. Vodafone NL doesn't sell new ones anymore...

Well, I don't have a contract, and I'm looking to pick up a Z30 when they become more affordable.

Yes. With the release of 10.2.1 the OS now has everything I liked about OS7 (if only this build had been ready 12 months ago). Although I can see the attraction of Apple (I have an iPad mini which I enjoy using), I really like my Z10 (I think the button-less approach far superior to Apple's button operation).

So, assuming that BB is still around in 12 months when my contract expires (I'm sure it will be), and as long as they have a full touchscreen phone, then I will remain with BB.

Not on contract. Still rocking the Z10. Would like a Z30, or maybe the next Q.

If the new Q phone has a trackpad and call keys, yes. Otherwise, I may migrate to a keyboard feature phone or back to the 9900 (q10 is too slow w/o buttons).

self explanatory (this is for BlackBerry 10 just to be clear)
Great and critical post! This is something that CrackBerry should've came up with themselves, but also something BlackBerry should be VERY keen on as a going-concern!

One item missed (and probably mentioned already):
Yes, preference for slider touch screen keyboard combo BB10 device.

I have a contract which I now use with my BlackBerry 10 phone.
The BlackBerry 10 phone which I have was bought off contract but lately I see little reason to use anything else so I just put my contract sim in it.

On the Z10 for now. Might move to the Z30 bc I've been hearing great things about it although I don't want a phone that's too big. But definitely staying with Blackberry. I love Blackberry 10!

I've only recently switched from iPhone to the Z10 to give BB10 a try. And I'm IN LOVE. The flow/hub is amazing. It's just so intuitive and the keyboard is amazing. So yeah, I'll certainly stick to BlackBerry for my next device. I'm currently eying the Z30. I'm not sure I love it aesthetically more than the Z10, but the size, battery life and natural sound seem like great reasons to upgrade.
