The numbers for each quarter are based on approximate sell in numbers provided in each quarterly report for BB10 sales.
That's where my numbers are taken from. Btw: BB gave no split sale numbers for OS7/BB10 devices in the last 2 quarters.

    Yes they did.

Blackberry sold in 1.6m total devices in Q1 and said approximately 65% were BB10 shipments, this is equal to around ~1.03m
Blackberry sold in 2.1m total devices in Q2 and said approximately 68% were BB10 shipments, this is equal to around ~1.41m

Blackberry confirmed that H1 total shipments of BB10 devices = 2.44m or 66% of all shipments.

Blackberry sold in 2.0m total devices in Q3 and said approximately 69% were BB10 shipments, this is equal to around ~1.38m

Blackberry confirmed that Q1-Q3 total shipments of BB10 devices = 3.82m or 67% of all shipments.

Based on preliminary data total BB10 devices for Q4 totalled 1.23m shipments. Added to 3.82m this totals 5.05m for FY2015 as outlined in my previous post. However Q4 is not a 100% accurate figure and I'm still waiting for a reliable documented number to be released. ~3.82m for first 3 quarters is fully confirmed but 5.05m is not fully confirmed yet.

The final number for Q4 is expected to be between 1.17m-1.23m which means that we are looking at approximately 4.99m-5.05m total BB10 units shipped between March 1st 2014 to February 28th 2015.

To make it easy for now, lets just say over 5 million BB10 units were shipped in FY2015.

You seem to mix up devices shipped /sold through/recognized hardware revenue. The important number regarding BB10 devices on he market is the number of bb10 devices sold through to end customers

Do you know the difference between sold in and sold through?

Because you're basing your calculations on the wrong number....

Please don't be so rude. No need to get aggressive.

Here is the proof for yourself-

    http://uk.blackberry.com/content/dam...nformation.pdf

The Company recognized revenue related to approximately 5.7 million BlackBerry handheld devices in the first nine months of fiscal 2015. Approximately 67% of the devices recognized in the first nine months of fiscal 2015 were BlackBerry 10 devices
As you can see this confirms the 3.82m number I quoted above.

I'm sorry to say but you're clearly wrong here.

The statement from BlackBerry is direct and to the point. To break it down it says that BlackBerry sold in and recognised revenue on approximately 5.7 million BlackBerry devices. The statement then goes on to say that 67% of the devices recognised (5.7m) are BB10 devices.

    67% of 5.7m is 3.82m.

So for the first 9 months of FY2015 the number of BlackBerry 10 devices was 3.82m. It really is as clear as night and day. Nowhere does it mention sold through to end users.

If you can't accept this then I don't know what to say to be honest. I'm not trying to say I know more than you or anything, I'm quite literally pointing out what BlackBerry have said.

But we don't have sold through numbers for BlackBerry 10?

The only official number we have is 5 million units sold through to end users in FY2014.

Maaxx you are incorrect on this one. BB recognizes states in each quarter how many devices they "recognize" revenue on. This is clearly started in the previous filling as

The Company recognized revenue related to approximately 5.7 million BlackBerry handheld devices in the first ninemonths of fiscal 2015, compared to approximately 12.4 million BlackBerry handheld devices recognized in the first nine
months of fiscal 2014. Approximately 67% of the devices recognized in the first nine months of fiscal 2015 were BlackBerry 10

But anyway, looks like BlackBerry have released an official number for Q4. Only 870,000 units sold in during Q4 were BlackBerry 10 devices and not 1.23m as I previously estimated. Perhaps BB were talking sell through figures for 90%+.

Looks like ~4.7m is the actual number of BB10 devices and 2.3m is the number of BB7 devices.

Some information to whom it may concern:

    - As at the end of fiscal 2015 [Feb, 28 2015], the Company had a user base of approximately 37 million.

    - During fiscal 2015, approximately 8.5 million BlackBerry smartphones were sold through to end customers, which included shipments made and recognized prior to fiscal 2015 and which reduced the Company's inventory in channel.

-The Company recognized revenue related to approximately 7.0 million BlackBerry handheld devices in fiscal 2015, compared to approximately 13.7 million BlackBerry handheld devices in fiscal 2014.Approximately 67% of the devices recognized in fiscal 2015 were BlackBerry 10 devices.
