We've just received word from our sources that the BlackBerry 10.2.1 rollout will in fact begin on January 28th. We confirmed this date for much of Europe and APAC regions.

The BlackBerry 10.2.1 update will bring a plethora of changes we've seen since leaked builds. You can expect there to be features like the Picture Password, Customizable Quick Settings, and a new Call Screen.

Stay tuned for the update, as we?re hearing some users may not see it hit until late on the 28th. Good news.

Honestly, it really doesn't matter WHEN it's released. It's when your carrier rolls it out, which could be days, weeks, months after they get it from BlackBerry. To say 'BlackBerry 10.2.1 will be released on this day'... is dumb. BlackBerry 10.2 has been released as well, look how well that turned out for some folks.

Don't let the cheering start yet, especially if you live in the U.S. Need an example? Telstra seemingly disagrees with the date as well. It's one thing for BlackBerry to say it's official, it's another to actually get it. Sadly.

Even tho I really can't do leaks, this kind of news tempts me almost beyond constraint. Come on, Verizon. By the time they ever update I will be too busy moving to the rest home to pay attention. Oh, well. It is what it is. I still like to hear about others getting it and I will be able to take advantage of all the learning and advice should I ever get it. And as Bla1ze pointed out, it is not just Verizon by any means. No more weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth ... (loud sound of blowing nose here; putting on happy face).

I used quotes on confirmed because the N4BB guys have reported "facts" before that haven't been accurate such as carrier OS releases happening well before they actually happen.
