You may also need to re-calibrate your battery gauge again. This fixed the erroneous readings that I experienced after updating the OS.

    To calibrate:
    1) Fully charge the battery to 100%
    2) Fully discharge the battery until the phone shuts down (I just streamed a few movies over Wi-Fi for about 6-hours to kill it)
On a side note: My battery ran for another 30-minutes after showing 0% charge. So this told me the gauge was off.
    3) Fully charge the battery to 100% again
    4) Do this EVERY 3-4 months if you want your gauge to be as accurate as possible.

After reading some of the replies and tips, my BlackBerry battery seems to be running 20-40 minutes longer than usual. However when it is locked, it drains 1% like every 3 minutes, why?

    Dude relax.

I counted. It's only 4973. No need to exaggerate.

Perhaps the battery just needs a few more charging cycles to become better optimized.

So is there any reasonable explanation for the high CPU usage after any upgrade?

    Posted via CB10
Yes there is, at most a few hours. Thinking that it takes days for some type of "settle" is ridiculous.

Depending on settings and apps installed on your phone will make a difference as to how long it takes for the OS to "settle" or re index. Some it might be a few hours and for others a couple of days.

My battery life has improved today and and even with a battery I was having issues with has improved.

Since the update battery life is worse on my Z10 thank goodness I have the Z30 as I wouldn't last more than 5 or 6 hours. And no games used just email text BBM and calling hopefully it improves as the indexing is complete. 10.2.0 was the best in terms of battery life so far, since all the updates over the last year.

I had the same issue with my z10. gave it 3 days, and it's finally settled down. I chalked it up to three items.

    a) initial indexing and about 4 charge/drain/recharge cycles
    b) android apps are a power drain, nothing can change this part. just careful with my usage. same with games/graphic heavy apps.
    c) headless apps. SAYIT was the biggest culprit. I adjusted the "run in background" settings on this and a couple other apps.

All in all, after three days, battery life seems to be back to normal (pre-10.2.1 update).

Ultimately I'll be upgrading to a Z30 in the next couple months, as the incredible battery life on that device is too good to turn down.

When did the term "let the OS settle in" get made up? There is no such thing.
Very good, and settling takes 2-3 days. Interesting!

Having similar issues of battery drain after installing the new OS.

I installed the new OS at the beginning of last week and followed the suggestions of folks here that the OS needs to "settle in".

I did several hard resets and several battery cycles but, am still seeing a ferocious battery drain.

I installed an app killer and a battery booster and suspended the few apps that were running in the background.

Earlier in the week my battery was very warm.

I just took Z10 off the charger about 10 minutes ago and I am already at 97% and is showing less that 6 hours of run time.

Is it possible that the heat I experienced earlier in the week from the battery may have ruined the cells in the battery?

I don't have a spare to compare it with but,
would buy one if I thought it would make a difference.

Sorry for the long post, I'm just trying to come up with a solution for my battery drain.

Just took my Z10 off the charger for the second time today and after a few minutes I'm already showing 99% and 4 hours of anticipated run time.

I have read through a number of other posts and have rolled back my email syncing on my 3 email accounts.

I have used the task manager to close any android apps running in the background.
I have used the phone very little today and I think as the days go on I'm experiencing less run time than a few days ago.

    Amy thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated!

Go into each app, pull down from the top, settings in there, is a sync setting to be adjusted, for example a news app, the sync times vary from 15 mins intervals to 24 hours, I had to adjust them. I'm monitoring the time to drain, it seems to have improved considerably.

It's that .1899 radio they packaged with it. .1926 is much much better, unfortunately, there have been many reported bricked devices when loading it on the official released OS. The best way around is to load the leaked 1925 and then install the 1926 radio. I tried the official release and battery was awful, I had to go back to the leaked with the updated radio. All is better again! There's no worrying about email setting, Android apps etc. Hopefully it gets officially updated for those who don't want to install the leaks.
