BIS users: what's your preference for syncing calendars?

I am interested in finding a way to keep my calendars synced with something online so that I never have to worry about losing them again.
My primary email is at live.com, and it doesn't have an option to sync calendars, only contacts.
I absolutely do not want Google in my life so I do not use Gmail. Therefore, I ask because i'm going to end up following someone's footsteps here; how do you prefer to keep your calendar data synced and saved? What excluding Gmail is popular?
