Has anyone heard if RIM will be making a phone the size of the original Bold 9000? I like the size of it better than the Bold 9700.

There is a rumored device to be out next year, but as of right now, its just speculation.

Have a look through the threads in this sub-forum there are a few on this topic. I think what you are referring to is the Dakota.

Honestly, if RIM never made the mistake of designing a phone the size of the
original Bold again I'd be very happy.

Interesting, I am aware that many thought the Bold too large when it was introduced. And those who liked/like it have either hated the size of the mini-bold or have learned to like it. But to say it was a mistake by RIM, or to think the size will not be repeated is a stretch in my opinion.

the original bold was a magnificent size !

for people with larger hands it was fantastic to be able to use a qwerty in comfort with a decent sized screen. also, it looked amazing, still one of the bst looking berrys to come out.

I agree. Even though my hands aren't huge, I did enjoy the feel of the original Bold. Perhaps a Bold 9700XL could be in the works...

...and I respect your opinion. I did have the original Bold and when it got
destroyed getting another one was not even a thought. I went for the 8900 and
it was an instant fit. The Bold 9000 while having a great keyboard was simply
too big and bulky. I think the Bold 9700 is a much better size.

IMHO the 9700 is of the perfetc size; RIM needn't increase the size of the future BOLD.

It seems to be a VERY individual taste. And because of that I would think RIM would be smart to continue both sizes. If or when we see a Dakota concept with a QWERTY keyboard and touch screen, I could not see that happening with a 9700 form factor. But, ya never know until then my taste is 9000 sized.

This would be appealing to me. I chose to buy the Storm (1) and now, the Storm 2, because of size. I know the trend has been for the longest time, to make everything tiny and dainty, but those things just never felt secure and "right" in my hands. I like my Storm 2, but would be very interested in a larger Bold (assuming the keys are also larger).

I think the original Bold's size was perfect bcuz I have large hands. I currently on own the Tour and its right in between when it comes to its size but I would love for RIM to make another "large" BlackBerry.

If you look at the poll posted a while back on crackberry, users were pretty much evenly spilt between the 9700 and 9000 sizes. There's clearly still a demand for it. I tried the 8900 before and didn't like the size at all

I understand the appeal of both sizes.

For me, the 9700 is too small. The 9000 is more ideal.

As a tweener, my 9630 is many regards is nicely sized, but still prefer the 9000.

I remember the poll, and the subject is something that does not have much rhyme or reason. I actually have comparatively small hands but I still prefer the bold, maybe because I was raised on treo's from the 300 on up. So the reasons people prefer one or the other seems to have a lot of disparity.

If RIM released the 9700 in a 9000 size, I would buy it right now for full retail price because I love my 9000 bold!

I'm not talking about the Dakota. I hope RIM releases a device the size of the Bold 9000 again. I like the traditional BB style, just they keyboard for input. I think it's good that they're coming out with a touchscreen with a keyboard for the people that like that style.

While the Storm 2 has the perfect size screen, I am not at all a fan of the touch screen keyboard. Is there any possible chance of RIM coming out with a phone that has the screen size of the storm with the same keyboard as the Tour? Flip or not, it would be perfect. Since I am a grown man with man hands, I would not mind the larger sized phone.

Well if I were to choose between a phone the size of the 9000 or the 9700, I would take the 9000. I have tried one of my friends' 9000's and I liked the feel of it. The keys were a little bigger too which I like because I have big thumbs lol
