ZDNet is in a race with BGR to the bottom of the credibility trash can. I don't need any more proof of that or that the PlayBook is off to a solid start.
Quote: the PlayBook will be a slow burn at first due to low initial advertising catching on fire once word of mouth and more aggressive advertising catches on. RIM understands that people are going to love the PlayBook once they try it! Thats what the IFans are so worked up about and doing their best to stymie.

My thoughts: Its to late loosers...
Alright two things. One, it's "losers" (sorry, couldn't resist). If you're calling people names, you have to spell it right. Two, I'm not sure what it's "too late" for, but I'm not sure why it all has to be an either/or. The PlayBook being good doesn't mean the iPad is bad, or vice versa. The PlayBook will continue to sell, and so will the iPad. Let's just see what happens.

So true, I was out of control. I've never predicted the end of the ipad, others think its their duty to predict the end of RIM thats clear.
Its too late to stop the good news from getting out about the PlayBook.

I'm not surprised by the high return rate. I'm on my 7th Playbook myself, mostly due to dead pixels. I think the retailer source is Best Buy. What other big box stores sold both the Xoom and the Playbook?
Seventh Playbook? Really? Either you have really bad luck or you are making sh#t up to pad your argument.

Regardless of the truth of the rumor, I am starting to become suspicious that the intent of the "source" is to manipulate RIM stock price.

The take-home note is that I'm an early adopter, and had to deal with early-adopter issues, resulting in 6 returns. I eventually made out, so I'm happy, but RIM/Best Buy probably lost some money in the process.

I KNOW dead pixels exist and they can be an issue in some cases. But seven times?

For me, it was only six times. My 7th one is perfect for the most part. I'm not the only one.

Last time I checked, that guy had a $55 target for RIMM.

It's believable. This happens with all types of products though. I remember original Storm users going through 4-5 Storms in the first week. I went through 5 9700 before the device even officially launched (AT&T business premier early access). I went through 4 iPhone 3GS due to hairline cracks forming on the back.
