Good read indeed. Morning humor
Of all the potential IPhone killers, RIM has to be the least
plausible. I mean really, these people are still pushing an
antiquated OS platform, serious memory limitations and
the least well thought out push into the consumer space ever.
RIM will be playing catch up to Apple on the multimedia front
for quite some time.
I put the comments down to a combination of free French wine at the reception in Cannes + jet-lag.
On the other hand RIM are launching an app store and that does have potential but, as you say, RIM are a country mile away from Apple in the music stakes.
It is really sad though. Looking at the Bold, Storm and Javelin the
potential is definitely there. I think RIM is just so comfortable with
the level of loyalty they have built up over the years that they
will have no incentive to make a truly revolutionary device (by
RIM standards) until their customer base starts voting with
their wallets.
It will be interesting to see if Mr. Balsillie 's statement come to fruition.

Yeah that's great and all but RIM should be more worried about figuring out how to do OTA updates for OS's and all that jazz. Updating the OS on a Berry is a prehistoric task that requires cables, and desktop managers and computers and time. Manual updates are why I ordered the G1, I don't have time to update my Berry everytime a new OS comes out or a new version is released. G1 does it for me. RIM is in danger on multiple fronts. P.S. Iphone is horrible and OLD
