my dad had a blackberry through his work and then received the curve2. He gave me his old one to use. His account is BES and I will use it on BIS. The only thing that scares me is that his work disabled the micro sd slot in it. Will i be able to use it once I put it on my account?

First you need to make sure that the device model is compatible with your phone carrier's network.

What model is it specifically? What carrier are you going to use it on?

Then if it is compatible, you will need to remove the IT policy. Search for "Remove IT Policy" and you will find instructions.

Once you get the BES off it will work just like a brand new one. I would suggest wiping it just to make sure there isn't anything and also making sure the IT policy is removed.

You can use 'crackutil' to remove the IT policy. If your dad was on a different carrier than yours, tell him to call the carrier and get the pin released. If not, you *may* not be able to create a BIS account with your carrier...
