Bes
Hi
I run a small company and we use a simple server network via a dell poweredge with sbs 2003 exchange. I have a bb and have paid for bes connection.
The bes software i understand is expensive so my dealer (scancom) have offered to run my bes from there server for a reasonable set up charge. This of course means they have to have access to my server and security.
My computer guy says this is not a good idea and believes he can get exchange to sync directly to my bold?
As iam on the edge of my understanding of the system can anyone offer any input.
cheers
john

There is a free version of BES for a single user (sorry don't have the link right now). It should run on a server seperate from your Exchange server so if you have a spare box you might want to look into that. I don't believe you can connect to your Exchange without the BES in between. If you're just wanting email then you might find a workaround by using BIS and POP3 or IMAP from your Exchange.

You can get BPS Express (Blackberry Professional Software) for free with 1 CAL (user license). BPS runs on the same server as Exchange and does not require a separate server. So your upfront investment only costs you your time, additional CALs are about $100.
