I think it's too big for the Passport. And I dont think anyone would be kind enough to make an adapter for it.

Well when it comes it better have a backing for support rather than just a micro USB plug sticking up from a little plastic holder!

It's not so much that it would be "too big" as that it's a completely different power connector (sadly, because I really liked the one on the PlayBook).

Though I'm not sure if this has been absolutely confirmed yet, speculation has it that the Passport will support WIRELESS charging, which increases the possibilities considerably. Personally, I'd love to have a wireless charging cradle beside my bed that automatically puts the phone into bedside mode...

From the illustration that I saw it's a USB type charging cradle for the Passport. Like you I would much prefer the PlayBook magnetic charging pins. But I doubt it's going to happen.

I added wireless charging to my non-verizon Z30 and I can tell you that once you get used to wireless charging, you will never want to plug in your phone again.

    It's a beautiful thing.

Something along the lines of the Z10 HDMI dock would be great.
Actually I'd like one with a built in usb hub too.

Why can't we have the charging contacts back, like on the 9900?

I've argued this point for a couple of years. Why did Blackberry drop the charging contacts?

It's such a useful addition. Surely it can't cost a great deal to implement on any of their devices. Two little contacts make charging so simple.

They also relieve the USB port of wear and tear.

Come on Blackberry, get your act together.

I am curious...what kind of style/material people are interested in having ?

Personally I would love to have a "Blackberry black" narrow metal base with a glowing blackberry logo that lights up to show that the phone is docked.

Why, when the clock just pops up.

Fair enough, but a nice glowing logo would look a lot better then just a standard "badge" or "embossed" logo ...
for me the gloss/finish on the playbook was not that great, the charging Pod for Bold 9650/Tour 9630 is a good example but instead of silver metal make it a black metal finish ..

edit : Maybe they will take a design similar to the P9981 dock...BBRY Passport Charging Dock-bb-p9981n-01.jpg

I'm pretty much with you. I had docks for my 9900 both on my bedtable and on my desk at work, and I really loved how I could set the phone to go into Bedside Mode only at night.

But as I say, I think the Passport will have wireless charging, which is arguably even better.

Ya I would definitely get a dock, but it would be nice to see one built by Arcam and Cambridge Audio or get a Canadian company to get together with BlackBerry like Nad, Bryston,Sim Audio or Resonessence Labs to make with hi rez audio outputs. Have detachable mounts for Passport, Classic and for the next PLAYBOOK (hopefully).
