hello i have recently bourght a second hanf blackberry curve 8520 and it has os5 oviously i downloaded the app world and bbm version 7 to it and signed in with my old bb id i used to use on my 9320 and then tried to setup bbm but it just comes up loading and then if i click off of bbm and go to homescreen then go back on it it says cannot connect to wifi when this is not the case btw this is all over wifi the sim card slot in the blackberry is broken is they anyway i can use bbm over wifi i have bbm on a old android phone with the same id and tht works perfectly but i tried to switch it over and its not working any help pls?

On legacy devices, BBM needs a BIS plan to work - EVEN on WiFi. If the phone isn't registered to BIS and does not have a SIM card in it, that means no BBM.

You missed the LEGACY DEVICES bit.There is no way to bypass it. It's how the OS was coded to work. It may be that BlackBerry will one day come to code a version of BBM for legacy devices that does not use BIS, but it is unlikely due to the nature of the OS.



SIDENOTE: One more time, for all you trolls out there - BBM WAS NEVER A PAID SERVICE - BIS was the paid service. BBM is a BlackBerry app/service.

Legacy Devices DO NOT WORK without BIS. You pay for BIS.
