The CrackBerry team @ Mobile World Congress should use use BBM Channel as their #1 means of communicating or disseminating news etc to BlackBerry's loyal customers. Is or are there any logical reason why CrackBerry should use any other communication vehicle as their #1 channel?

CrackBerry needs BlackBerry, conversely BlackBerry needs CrackBerry. BBM Channels is an important fabric of BlackBerry.

That would be nice but channels only allows for 400 characters in a post. They need to increase that drastically so people can actually use it to blog stuff.

Heck it could be used in the same manner as twitter. Not everything has to be a full blown blog.

Fair point. I didn't even know of this restriction.

But yes, it probably could be a great avenue for microblogging if the numbers support using it.

True but the postings would be no different from how they post things with links back to Crackberry. Doesn't Twitter have limitations too?

I just think excluding BBMC flies in the face of the whole message Kevin and mobile nations keeps spewing out. Like, CrackBerry Is just more than BlackBerry, it's all platforms. Then snub your 'home crowd' so to speak? I'm not on twitter, Google or instagram but enjoy BBMC for my social fix and I'm excluded from a event because I'm not herding like the rest of the leaders of crackberry.

Ill just put this here and say one thing. If you were so vocal about bbm being cross platform then guess what its here now. Or maybe the mobile nations team has done a tmobile and to phase out BlackBerry...

BBM Channels should be used by CB at Mobile World Congress......PERIOD!!-img_00001633.png

It's funny how we seem to find an anti-BB conspiracy in everything that the CB/MN does now.

For any news organization, it's all about reach. You use the medium that gives you the largest audience and has the best functionality. I know some blogs geared towards one platform that use the messenger of another... all about business.

I haven't read anything saying they absolutely won't update via channels. Am I missing something?

In black and white terms, do we know for sure that channels is the number one source of news for BB users?

More importantly, do we know for sure that it is the number one source for BB enthusiasts?

As I said earlier, it makes sense to use it in some capacity. Assuming that the CB isn't, I still can't make the leap that it is part of concerted effort to do CB/BB in by MN.

Channel postings need to be viewable on a regular browser without the need for BBM (like twitter). That way they can tweet a chnl.bb.com/ to link to their more content rich Channel post knowing it will be at least viewable (if not fully engageable) by a broad audience.

That's just not realistic. Nobody (outside Crackberry) would read what they write if Channels is all they used. Most Mobile Nations members use Twitter. Not Channels.

Crackberry's top priority should be its customers or fans or members; people who religiously visit CB forums will follow Kevin & co to its BBM Channel. If I'm not mistaken, people on CB forums are mostly CB members first and may or may not be Mobile nation members.
Tell me, do you think Crackberry got to 100,000 subscribers from people who follow them on Twitter/Instagram/Google+ or that matter Mobile Nations?

Yes, I believe you are missing the point. BBM Channel should be Crackberry's number 1 "go to" channel not second fiddle.
Ironically, CB's growth can be directly tied to BlackBerry (most especially during BlackBerry's dark hours). I would be very glad if someone can prove me wrong.
Hope CB team have heard the saying "DON"T BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU" .

Agreed, you do have a point. But lets still remember that BBM Channels is relatively "young" and is "work-in-progress". Hopefully with time and improvements it will become robust.

well I think they're well above 100,000 subscribers. And yes I do think most of them have a twitter account. I also am pretty sure they sell advertising to people who don't want them using Channels exclusively.

I dont think anyone is angry or upset that they're using other mediums. But the perception is that bbm and channels is ignored yet again but hey were feeding the page hits.
What would be funny is if one of those blogs people here detest picks up on this thread and writes another bash BlackBerry article because of it.

Having Twitter account does not necessarily equate using Twitter. I'm sure a lot of people have Twitter account. Don't be presumptuous that people follow CB or Kevin more on Twitter.
Point still remains that without BlackBerry there won't be any Crackberry, at least not in its present form today.
Finally, ironically, advertisers buy spots on CB because of the traffic on the site. It would be safe to say that the "majority " of people on this site are here for blackberry related reasons. Guess what, even trolls and BlackBerry haters are here for "BlackBerry reasons ".

Kevin was live reporting on the Windows phone news earlier - he should have been doing this via BBM channels? Give me a break...given the relative site traffic of mobile nations, using that logic, Google hangouts is where we should be seeing the news...

Very ironic that you are on CB right now. I guess you should only be viewing Google hangouts based on your logic.
CB should be covering all bases. There are some people who are not interested in using Google hangouts.
Whether you like it or not CB and BlackBerry are intertwined.

So they've gone ahead and updated the original blog post with the new channel pins for each sub category of Mobile Nations
    http://crackberry.com/follow-mobile-...world-congress
However, this was only updated after the Crackberry members made a sink about the absence of Channels.
If you go to Imore or Android Central, you?ll see that the blog post there hasn?t been updated to reflect the addition of channels, (think of the chance for others to experience and maybe even start their own personal channel.)
On top of that, i've been unsuccessful in finding the Channels that have been listed.

Once adopted Channels can act just like, twitter, Facebook, instagram and more. Quick posts options are there and from a user stand point. I can select when I want to follow up on the details.

I guess it was an oversight and Kevin has subsequently addressed the issue. And peace rains in Crackberry land again.

    This what triggered the uproar:

Phil Nickinson - Google+, Twitter, Instagram
Kevin Michaluk - Google+, Twitter, Instagram
Daniel Rubino - Google+, Twitter, Instagram[
Alex Dobie - Google+, Twitter, Instagram
Richard Devine - Google+, Twitter, Instagram
Andrew Martonik - Google+, Twitter, Instagram

This what the thread should have looked like:

Phil Nickinson - Google+, Twitter, Instagram
Kevin Michaluk - Google+, Twitter, Instagram, BBM Channel
Daniel Rubino - Google+, Twitter, Instagram
Alex Dobie - Google+, Twitter, Instagram
Richard Devine - Google+, Twitter, Instagram
Andrew Martonik - Google+, Twitter, Instagram

And all the uproar would have been avoided. Also, the funny thing is that nobody would even pay mind whether Kevin posted tons of MWC things or not on BBMC, there after.
