I've had a few friends on android that got rid of it because it was killing their battery. Hopefully the update today solves that.

Ramp up advertising for BlackBerry Channels, get big named companies on board, it's free! BBM video / voice, push to talk voxer style.

How did video tapes become popular? Porn. BlackBerry should hook up with Porn companies and get private channels, or private shows over bbm video. You can always block ppl, or end the channel or PIN.

There's a little perv in all of us

This may very well be true. I can't, however, consider a source that has multiple spelling and grammatical errors, let alone such a poor website, as credible.

BBM has very little to shout about cross-platform until Voice and Video arrive.

I had it, got several of my friends to install it and then deleted it myself after all but one of my friends had uninstalled it.

Sad to say, but we're living in a world that has Hangouts version 2 now. If you have a Android phone, which 80+% of the smartphone owning population does, there's a real good chance that you have Hangouts and zero reasons to use any other IM app.

The latest version of Hangouts is so far ahead of cross platform BBM that I doubt Blackberry will ever match it. Even if they did match it, do I really need two IM apps when everyone I know can be contacted with Hangouts?

The three biggest problems with BBM on other platforms are as follows:

    1. System integration: Currently, the app has to be open and running for someone to receive messages. It's not integrated like it is with a BlackBerry device. I'm going only on personal experience here with a Galaxy S4 -- the app seems to keep closing on its own in the background and messages aren't received unless the BBM app is launched again manually. Really annoying.

    2. Features: Whatsapp's group chat is killer. Let's face it, you can share anything easily with a group. BBM's sucks. You have a chat, events, files, and lists in separate places, and it's a pain in the *** to get to one of those from another. What if I want to share my location to a group chat? Impossible. What if I want to share a video to a group chat? Impossible. BBM is great for one on one, but for group it's garbage, which is a major hindrance to how quickly it's going to spread.

    3. PIN connections. Really? BlackBerry is still using the PIN method for adding and connecting with people? You HAVE to register for a BBID with an email address. Why not just use that as a universal identifier? I know you can add someone by email, but it's ultimately linked back to a PIN and that's just confusing for less knowledgeable users.

Once again, BB could tell us how many active users they have. All the other chat apps love to share this type of info. It's how they monetize their product.
Unless a shrinking active user base is preventing them from sharing. It's been stuck at 20 million new active users since week 1? I'm not surprised IOS will experience a shrinking user base. The ringtone is too soft and short and is totally ineffective in alerting users of incoming messages which absolutely defeats the purpose of instant messaging. How could they roll out an app with inaudible ringtone? Then they follow up for iPads with the same ringtone. Even ping has the same tone! It's fine for android devices with customizable ringtones and LEDs but iPhones & iPads don't have LEDs!!

More features would be nice. But more importantly, the app itself needs a re-work as it's mediocre in design and poor in execution. Too many bugs and annoyances to expect the average user to leave it installed on their device.
Just what the hell are you talking about? It works as a swiss watch and as simple as possible...

    ....let me guess: junk Samsung...?

Latest Hangout is probably the biggest piece of unreliable **** in the Play Store. It is a PoS ever since they dropped Talk but the the latest one literally fails to send my messages under my Gmail account over 50% of the time, while my Google Apps Business one sends everything just fine... and at least two more people I know have the same issue...
Hangouts is a useless, unreliable broken piece of junk (and I'm a rather hardcore Android user) - it just shows how bad Google became.

C'mon, you can't be serious. Not even BBRY thinks this. Otherwise they wouldn't be working to improve the performance issues, squash the reported bugs, and fix the delivery issues many are having.

Wow, you sure swing from one extreme to the other. Yes the Hangouts app needs work, but it's a far cry from the utter crud you make it out to be.

While the XBBM service is experiencing delivery issues, you still compare it to a Swiss watch. Yet delivery issues with Hangouts places it in the garbage category.

    Your agenda is pretty transparent.

That what you believe but from what I see people are downloading BBM and the word is spreading. I love my SG4 and my now 31 BBM contacts list keeps on growing . Not sure why some on CB who clearly dislikes everything blackberry would spend so much time on a fan site? There is no spinning why someone with such negativity would waste so much of their time posting....unless well I think smart people can figure it out. Everyone has to make a living no matter how pathetic. Cheers .Life is to short being negative .
I don't believe it's negativity at all, most of us wants bbm to succeed but it's just not there yet with its design flaws and bugs. I would call it constructive criticism. I'm trying to use it as the primary IM and it works as expected on my nexus 4 and S2 but its frustrating when the recipients on iPhones can't hear the alert ringtone and read my messages hours later. The 'D' turns to 'R' an hour or more later! Bbm on my android phones works as expected but it's like a one way traffic.
