Sounds like the media player istelf is corrupt...

you might have better luck posting in the 9700 specific fourm, as readers with the same device might have a similar problem, and might be able to provide more detailed information...

Perhaps, one of the MOD's would be kind enough to move this thread there for you.

As the media player is one of the core apps, i don't think there's a way to uninstall / reinstall it... I remember my 8330 having a similar issue, and once the media player crashed, the alarm clock sound would not work either...

reloading / upgrading the OS might be the only route to fix it...

I have had problems with trying to view youtube videos on my 9700 too. I keep getting a error of: "an error occured attempting to play media" I have tried everything I could think of. I first posted in an old thread about it, but have yet to get a response. its not in one of the more popular spots on this forum, too bad since its in the right spot. I also thought it may be my carrier but I don't think that's it.

People have suggested to check your VPN settings to make sure you have that set up right. Its strange though since I have never had an issue with the VPN settings before.

And the usual of doing a battery pull, it may be as simple as that for you.

As for me nothing has worked. I'm going to head into the shop where I recently got my new SIM from. It's a pay as you go BB Data SIM card, I'm wondering if its a problem with the SIM?

After doing some more research I found that I am unable to stream media on the SIM I have. Hopefully you are able to solve your issue though.
