On the earnings call, John Chen has confirmed that a new BB7 phone will be developed based on the Bold line.

Better to aim at the small BlackBerry 7 market than at the even smaller BlackBerry 10 market. Honest question, if you consider BlackBerry 7 a "small" market, what sort of market is BlackBerry 10? Tiny?

It might be time for BlackBerry to consider cutting their losses on the failure that is BlackBerry 10.

It can mean anything, there were many different Bold devices, 2 BB7 Bold devices anyway 9900 & 9790

I got the impression that it would be an updated version of the 9900. I assume the specs would be updated slightly as well as the addition of LTE.

Interesting news... at some point they have to let BB7 fade away and completely focus on BlackBerry 10 development, devices, and sells. My guess is that this might be the last legacy device as most features are being incorporated into the new os as of the Q20...

The more significant issue is whether or not they'll be updating the OS or just slamming out BB7.1 devices... is there a 7.2, 7.3, etc., in the pipeline?

The quote was "a new production run" of the Bold device. So expect to see newly manufactured BB7 Bold 9900 devices but not a new design or new features.

The cost of upgrading BB7 OS to support upgraded HW/LTE wouldn't make economic sense at this point. The best they can hope for is to turn a small profit selling more 9900 devices as their current inventory is running low.

I don't think there's a need for LTE on the legacy line.

How can a company move forward living in the past? Sure os7 is making the bread and butter but at some point you have to let it die.

If they let it die the whole company will instantly die.

BB10 was a waste to develope and continues to bomb in sales..

I agree completely... how long can BlackBerry survive on 2.3 million legacy device sales and 1.1 million OS 10 sales anyway? My guess is that it can't be very long...
