I make my guess: > 5 millions users around the world using a BB10 device. My guess is based on that graph: it shows "thousands of unique active users" for what WHINE is concerned.

The graph has been shown directly from knobtviker, on his channel. He is the developer of the app aforementioned ;-) As you can see he can count on more than 2 millions unique active users.. (if I am able to read correctly the graph)

Whine users can only be BB10 users. Given that not everybody is using Whine, but just at about 50% of users are using it (and I'm saying so just as a guess because Vine is becoming more and more popular), I doubled the number of Whine active users and added a bit more :-) That's it.

I wonder if you update to the latest version it takes you number out of the previous version pool. Not saying he doesnt have 2 million active users because that is possible also but I just dont see that many vine users honestly. Sales of bb10 are probably between 6-7 million by now though. Whether or not that is "growing" is debatable. a little over 5 million were sold at last official account i think which was 2 months ago.

I wonder what analytics tool he's using to get the numbers. If he's reporting actual active users, it can't be from Blackberry's tools. I don't think this says all that much about the BB userbase, but if true, it is a testament to the popularity of this app.

Devs can see the number of downloads for each version. If someone deleted the app, or loaded a leak and then reinstalled, it would show as a new download though

Edit: I see, it's a channel PIN. Doesn't answer the question unfortunately. I don't think he has 2 million active users though, since just a couple days ago he posted an error report showing (what I assume is) about 120k sessions total.

But if he does, then a huge kudos to him for having his app on almost half of all compatible phones.

If he does have 2 million active users, then that's testament to increasing growth because frankly bb10 is the only compatible os for whine. 2 million sounds a bit too much but a bit of insight..

Snap2chat which is still on beta has over 2k users..these are people who frequently use crack berry and side loaded it

If people are ok with the existing reviews probably they don't think they have to put more. That's how I usually behave when downloading an app at least..
