BB10, the Z10, the name "BlackBerry Ltd.", that Alicia Keys thing, the turning point in quite a few post-mortems of the company, all of those were exactly four years ago today, January 30, 2013.

Here's to the next four years, when we'll still be waiting for dark Lithuanian Hub on 10.3.4. *badum tish*

A year plus after the initial release, 2.1 shipped, making is usable for those who did not like like fighting past a lot of undocumented features.

I still remember when I bought the first z10 from my local T Mobile store when the device was first released here in the USA back in 2013.

It had Had OS10 1.0 on it and it was fun back then working all the kinks out, flashing new OS10 autoloader versions as quick as they where being released.

I actually miss those days, it was fun and the CB forums where very busy with folks finding new ways to improve it. My only downside was I had to get a cheap PC because my Mac didn't support side loading Android apps.

I still think if they would have released it a year earlier, things would be much different today. Oh well, I miss those times and wouldn't trade them for nothing.

For some reason I thought it came out in 2011. Four years to go from so much potential, to where we are now... I miss the days when there was more choice.

I agree Ron. I miss those days too. We had real conversation about Sachesi and blitz packages etc. It felt like we were working our phones. Now many of the old faithful have moved on....sad.

Well many have jumped ship and gone with Android and iPhone (BlackBerry included) I still continue to use BB10. I see no need to downgrade.

WOW, hard to believe 4 years ago...I still use my Zed10 everyday. It's holding up nicely! Now if I could clear off some space for that new OS...

A birthday even BlackBerry isn't celebrating.

Those were some great times, full of hope and promise. It ended all too soon for most of us. Damn, now I'm getting sappy, and feel a song coming on...

After i purchased my first Blackberry, the 8520, i had used it for about 2 years, maybe a little less and i heard about Blackberry 10 being launched. I still remember walking around the house using the up and right gesture to open the hub and pretending my 8520 had a touch screen with the fancy new OS installed. haha. Ah good times.

I came back to BlackBerry after a couple years away in December 2013 with the Z10 and 10.2.1. It was an amazing productivity device and truly felt like the future. I'm glad BB10 is still here and supported in a way but it's a shame all that potential went to waste.

That's what I must have been thinking of! Another premature death of a device with so much potential, although I will say I still use mine. Actually in the time I've had my "dead" BB10 and Playbook, I've gone through:
    - a Nexus (I think the 1st one?): it was just terrble
    - a Nexus 4: Good device, too fragile with a truly terrible camera
    - a Windows tablet: 32 Gigs was too small for Windows 8, and it was gone before Win 10
    - At least 2 Windows 7 Phones: Wanted to love them, but they had even less support than BB10

So I guess a 4 year old platform that is now showing its age is not half bad afterall.

I too bought a cheap Windows Tablet running Windows 8.1. Also only had a 32GB Drive on it.... but I installed an SD Card and had it mounted as a Virtual Drive at Boot and never had an issue, as I installed all programs and data on that drive. And after a year and half, and help from Windows Central, I upgraded to Windows 10 without a hitch. 1GB of Ram and 32GB Drive... was not the best platform for Windows, but then for $150 Tablet I couldn't complain. The real key was getting help from more experienced people over on Windows Central. Did just replace it last BlackFriday with a Surface PRO (love it). But I agree that Windows is not a platform I'd use for a Phone, even if it were a Surface Phone.

As for BB10... every now an then I pull out my Z10 and slip the SIM Card in it. But each time I quickly return to my Droid. Problem isn't that BB10 is an old platform, it's that it never got out of it's teen years and never will. But if it meets your needs.... use it.
