Is anyone having issues with BB Maps and/or any other navigation apps using GPS? I've been trying for a few days now to get some kind of map app that will work with GPS and I've had no luck so far. I have GPS set to location, not only 911. Help please.
I tried it from my car. How long does it take to find satellites? I think I had it work in my house for about 1 minute the other day, but that was it. :/

i've had it take a minute...then other times its taken 20 or more min.
I never got my phone to locate any satellites....it always hangs on "searching for satellites" no matter where I am. I left it on for a long time, and still...nothing. Not to mention I can't get it to stay in docking clock mode - always shuts down screen or home screen comes up and stays on. Those are my only 2 issues with my phone...there's also a bluetooth issue, but I don't mind that too much. Maybe I need to exchange my phone...
Sorry to go a bit off topic here (new bb owner here) but are the BB maps the ones I needed to pay extra for? or does it come with the phone? because i cant seem to find it on my phone?

On the phone with vzw right now. Tech saying he is hearing that gps is supposed to be locked for some reason... I'll update when I know more.
EDIT: he said it should not be locked and that it should be working. He advised me to wipe it and restore the phone. if that doesn't work its replacement time.
Vzw cs ftw.

I was trying to figure out why I didn't have VZ Navigator working and read through this whole post. Here is my situation:
- no VZ Navigator enabled (costs $9.95 per month even though the web site says free with national plan???)
- installed Google Maps Mobile which works fine, but the location is off a bit (by about plus or minus 1/2 mile)
- just tried the BBMaps. I didn't know I was supposed to enable the Sat's, so last time I was just using it to look something up, this time I hit the little button on the left and it took about 20 seconds to find 11 sats while sitting at my desk!
I just love this device so far. I only wish I was smart enough to write apps because I can think of several engineering tools that I would love to have on this device.
Thanks for all the input! Sure enough, when I went into the advanced options and enabled the GPS, I opened BB Maps and it found 10 satellites and located me in about 20 seconds. And that was from inside the building! Definately can't beat it...
As to battery issues people have been complaining about, I took mine off charge at 0600 this morning and as of now I am at 50%. Normal usage, internet, texting, calls, etc. Better than I expected. Maybe it was because my GPS was turned off before? We shall see tomorrow and if it drains quickly, then I will shut it off and turn it on whenever I want to use the GPS mapping...lol
