more low end devices coming our way (Curves)...how many low-end devices does RIM need? They just dont get it...
Agreed. The currebt Curves are more than enough. An Edge only device is just a waste of resources.
You need to understand RIM's business model before making assumptions, RIM is company that makes money of every subscription it makes from the carriers. Those curves are intended for emerging markets where 90% of the people can't see themselves spending more than $100 for a phone. IMO that is a excellent strategy RIM is employing that they are making the Blackberry brand accessible to everyone. Mind you the best selling curve 8520 still retails for $200 in those markets and part of RIM's strategy could be sell the device below that price and at the same time offer a upgraded OS. If the strategy clicks it would pay off RIM in a very big way, Nokia still sells 300 million such devices alone and has with zero service revenue from its devices but for RIM it could pay off in a big way. BBM is their weapon and if they are successful in engaging everyone on to their social platform then they have safeguarded their position in mobile space for a long long time.

see what happened in Indonesia, which has approx 300 million population, what happens when they explode in countries like India, south east nations, african nations, latin american nations which together harbors nearly 3/4 of worlds population
