I have a bb 8900 and i love it.....but i recently took out my old 8700 and realized that the body of the new 8900 is nowhere near as good at the old 8700.....is the quality of the body(case) going down?
Build quality has gone down in my opinion. But that's just a reflection of lots of companies doing things to cut down costs. The build of my Bold isn't as good to me as the build of my old Curve.
I think so. I used to drop my 8703 all the time and it wouldn't be phased in the least. When I had an 8830, I dropped it once and it got a nice crack in the display. Now, I'm afraid to look at my 9530 the wrong way.
Can't really say from experience. But just looking/feeling the difference with the Pearl and Pearl flip... the flip does feel like it's not as sturdy as the older model.
Yeah, I would imagine quality will go down. Cell phones used to be the things you buy AND keep. These days upgrades occur all the time, so instead of a cell phone being a long term purchase they're slowly becoming a consumable. With this obviously quality will lower as the main point is quantity, not quality.
My wife needs a clamshell phone because she keeps pressing the buttons when she borrowed my Curve. I borrowed a Pearl 8100 and she does the same thing. I know, it's supposed to be put on standby to prevent this or put into a holster OEM holster but try telling her to that all the time, doesn't work. So we looked at the 8220 but it feels flimsy. She currently has RAZR v3 that's 2 years old and still feels more solid than the Pearl Flip. So yes, build quality seems bad but all the newer clamshell phones feel like that. Any suggestions for a solid clamshell phone?
This is the first BB that I purchased new (8310) and I'm a little disappointed that after less than two months there is a noticeable amount of dust under the screen.

I suppose the build quality is going down, but it is not that bad imho. I have dropped my Bold on a few occasions and no visible scratches or cracked screen or anything. Of course, CB user Kare Bare has tried to kill her Bold, and it is still working. In effect, it is not the best in the world, but it is also not the worse.
So, if this is all true, that the quality is going down, in the name of quantity, then shouldn't it follow that the cost of the phone should also go down??? Hmmm......
