But we all know sales are bad for BlackBerry, maybe the Z3 make a blip in a few markets. Have to wonder how much longer BlackBerry will even be a separate category.
Interesting how some markets, even Android is having some push back. But per Asymco... the real winner is Apple. Even as Android OEM's dominate the market in the terms of sales, Apple is gathering almost 60% of ALL the profits being made on mobile devices sales (based on the top eight vendors).

Looks like Android is taking over everything in Spain.

I'm anxiously waiting to see how the Z3 release in Indonesia pans out. Good battery and a big screen for less than $200 has to be attractive.

Is the Z3 even coming to any of these markets? If not, then there are no new Blackberry products in these markets for the next two quarterly reports.

The only ones that know the actual number of active BlackBerry users, is BlackBerry.... and they stopped reporting that info last year. There are other Reports that try to gauge the User Base, but most are based on fairly small samples (we polled 1,000 users...) and are normally just regional. Or they try to use data collect via browsers or tracking tools... that can also be a little unreliable.

It would be interesting to know...especially with BB10 sales being so low, and a big portion of the FAN BASE owning multiple devices. I think this is info developers would like to know...

I can't imagine it's a distinction that makes much of a difference. How long does the average smartphone last? If you're in the app or accessory business then you're making decisions based on what you think the market share is going to be several quarters ahead, anyway. Nobody in their right mind says "OK, Blackberry is selling less than 1% of smartphones these days but there are probably people who still have them so let's get something out there for them before they get a new smartphone." Everyone wants to know where the market is going not where it's been.

you can see Chen's wheels turning from here. Given the hundreds of millions MS/Nokia have spend on advertising and the results no way BB is going to make a splash in the consumer market anytime soon with a flagship handset and advertising blitz to match.

Seems Chen will eventually shut the phone business, say 2-3 new devices down the road but will be able to honestly say "We tried hard"...(to sell phones without marketing)

EU/NA/Near East Asia produce the most profits and the higher end hands-sets. Its interesting that Kantar doesn't separately break out Canada even though I know they measure it and its listed in their expensive reports. The stats will probably show up on a Canadian website I'm sure.
