Yea, N4BB directly contradicts what Jubei reported in the CB podcast. Who is right?
It's not a competition between the two sources. Rather what is BlackBerry actual commitment to making a new tablet.

    I would buy a Playbook 2 if

    A) it was high quality BlackBerry 10 powered and secure

    B) it ran Android apps and had Google Play preloaded.

    Would want 8-10" also.

Here is the interesting thing to me....I had an iPad 2 when they were new......for the most part, it just sat around not being used....I couldn't use the web browser to do all the things I can do on my computer....I had to use my laptop for Flash content. My laptop is a little bigger than an iPad, but since it does more, what sense did it make to carry the iPad? Now, I have a PlayBook....I only paid $75 for it and the web browser is leaps and bounds BEYOND the iPad was/is. The fact that it plays Flash content is awesome. The iPad needs apps to play HBOGo, MaxGo, Showtime Anytime, but I can do that on my PlayBook on the web browser. The iPad needs an expensive proprietary HDMI adapter to hook up to the TV (and the one I had was very finicky)...the PlayBook just needs a Micro HDMI cable....they are alot cheaper and can be used on other devices too, not just the PlayBook...if you get another phone (such as an Android that has MicroHDMI port, you can use the same cable).....Not only that....the PlayBook can even fit in a pair of pants pocket! Its a tight fit but it works....regardless that Blackberry didn't deliver BB10 to the PlayBook, it still works just fine.....I use my PlayBook 3-5 times a week for various things....my partner has a tablet that was released in Jan of 2012 that is pretty sluggish....sure its Android, but it does slow down alot, there is a good bit of "app not responding" issues....while its running a 1Ghz Dual-Core CPU with 1GB RAM, its still not running on par with the PlayBook with very similar specs...the display isn't as good either.....only has one camera and its HORRIBLE....yea, it has better app selection, but what good is it when alot of apps crash, etc....my Z10 has better Android app compatibility than the tablet! Blackberry may have made bad decisions with the PlayBook, but doesn't mean its a bad device...

Apparently, in your world, "better research" includes assuming that when upper management of a company publicly promises features regarding that company's products, those promises could constitute lies.

Fair enough. Of course public lies by upper management tend to be inconsistent with promoting credibility or goodwill, which often results in future costs to that company.

The original iPad Apple didn't publicly state it would get iOS7, BlackBerry publicly stated multiple times the PlayBook would get BB10, or the new phone OS. Apple didn't promise frequent updates and not deliver, BlackBerry did. Apple didn't promise to deliver various features at particular times and fail, BlackBerry did and failed. We beta tested BB10 to market and then were discarded. If you got the tab at fire sale price then fine you didn't take a bad hit, but early adopters paid full retail and we're delivered a beta product at best.

    Posted via CB10
I don't EVER recall, nor read any review that stated the PlayBook was a beta product. The hardware was almost 2 years ahead of the competition - took Samsung 2yrs to release a similar HD front camera that recorded in 1080P, stereo speakers or twin stereo speakers - the PB has 4: 2 per side, front firing speakers, 1080p screen took the competition almost a full year, and the matte back.

SW it ducked and paired behind every competition and never caught up! That was the beta PBOS was not BlackBerry 10.

You are more right than you know. A modicum of research would have shown early adopters that bbry is pretty consistent about promising things they'll later prove comically inept at delivering.

Bought an ipadg the other day. Loving it. Would have loved for a bb10 tablet to exist, and will adopt one as soon as one becomes available if they make it!!

iPad is doing well so far, although I have little niggles like, can't send attachments from email app ( documents at least) . Email is app is nothing compared to my z30. Everything holds up well though. Still if blackberry make a bb10 tablet.. That's its! For the ipad

From a non-CB interview I listened to, the next tablet may come, but it is not an immediate priority. Until BlackBerry's brand is repaired there is no chance of success. They will re-evaluate but not for at least a year.

PlayBook doesn't have a 1080 screen, or even 720, it has 1024x600. It still is great hardware, and could be a fairly useful device if it could run Bb10 apps, or got an updated Android runtime, and they stripped AIR out of and added Cascades support. About the only use I have for it now is a Web browser when my Z10 Battery is near death on weekends, or for a Pandora Boombox via the Apollo app.

Exactly. The only flaw in my research was taking BlackBerry at their word. I expected to have a FIPS approved tablet with Ethernet connect ability, USB to Serial adapters to configure devices, the same OS my phone is running, an Android runtime that works and provides lots of apps, etc. All I got was a FIPS tablet that can surf the Web and play Pandora with great speakers through a third party app. Oh and now I have about half of my bridge functionality back.

If one compare the playbook to when Z10 was first launch, it's exactly the same situation. The device was half baked and was incomplete. There was no further development similar to 10.2.1 update like the Z10. IPad by comparison was a finish product when launch. Apple customers know the product is as is, no promises of major update. However, the promised of major update for playbook by BlackBerry was not realize regardless it's major OS update or bringing BB10 to the tablet. The company created that expectation that disappointed many angry customers. It's definitely a PR nightmare. The timing could not be worst when the company is trying to stay alive. For BB to come out with another tablet, It better be at least operating at current Z30 capability. And should they go ahead with the plan, the company do have some damaged PR to fix.

I was going to say that Blackberry isn't dumb enough to release another tablet - but then I remembered all the really dumb things they've done and now I'm not so sure.

If Blackberry has no issue with having a boatload of tablets sitting in a warehouse collecting dust and having to discount them drastically to move them - then go right ahead and make a BB10 tablet. With the exception of some hardcore BB fans, it's an solution to a problem that doesn't exist. If you want a tablet, you get an iPad, Android or Windows non-RT tablet. All the software and functionality you'll ever need.

With the moves being made under new management I don't see just a purely PlayBook 2 being released. Like the innovation being pored into the Q30's keyboard I expect the same for BlackBerry's next consumer tablet.

What's your definition of urgent market? To me urgent market for BlackBerry is the healthcare and corporate businesses. These are the market that need a tablet not the consumers market. However, if BB produce a tablet for these industries, the consumers also benefit from it. The difference this time is, it's not consumer market driven. No requirement to sell mass volume of tablets to be successful and no competition from Apple and androids.
In the US, the Healthcare market has already been wrapped up by Apple, iPads are everywhere in doctors offices - haven't seen them in the Hospital. We just bought a new copier and the guy was having an issue as we bought all new machines with Windows 8 Pro and he had issue with the Windows Drivers.

But he told me about a doctors office (large office with four specialist) that had just gone to Apple Computers - which have more issue with drivers for these larger copiers than Windows does. He asked them why, and it was because Apple had a program specifically for them that allowed them to do virtual surgeries on their computers (not sure why they didn't leave bookkeeping and basic office stuff on Windows and just have separate machines for these industry specific programs). Either way.... BlackBerry is going to face competition! Even my dentists uses an iPad to show me how bad my teeth are....

A friend of mine is a project manager for a large healthcare/hospital brand, and is handling new system rollouts at all northern California hospitals (similar rollouts are happening elsewhere simultaneously). iPads are a HUGE part of those rollouts. There are tons of specialty medical apps that doctors are demanding (and largely getting).

Largely?! You mean they ARE getting and ple to are in the App Store if not there are thousands of developers in the local community more than happy to code and sell the rights to the software & code that the software is based on never to use the same proprietary design nor code to their competition.

There is one thing I will say, blackberry smartphones are easy to use and very addicting (the keyboard, hub/message center (OS 2.X-7.1), BBM.

we hope that the next BB tablet will be as easy to use and intuitive as their smartphones, and as elegant and beautiful as ipad mini retina and nouvel ipad air
That one of the things that BB10 gets hammered on in reviews, is that it isn't easy to use or intuitive. And I have to say I agree. Sure once you get the hang of it, you can figure it out and work pretty efficiently. But the HUB has to many layers you have to peal into and then back out of. And relying on Android Apps.... is just confusing as many gestures work differently withing those apps. Then there are some apps that work in Landscape and some that don't...
