    what happens if RIM is sold , will the phones still be serviceable , will they be covered by carriers

    Yea, why not? Aren't Palm phones? Anyway, I don't know who would want to buy RIM other than at a much cheaper price and then just for their patents.

    No one else wants to commit on just building Blackberry devices and operating systems besides RIM. Why would a company limit themselves in the Blackberry brand in building everything for it when they can break into the smartphone business by running Android and building different phones that they want to?
